NEW: Universal VR shader

As much as you love VR...I wonder how you can resist the opportunity to clear the fog.

One would hope ED could implement something along these lines so we do not have to use a Mod. It seems too easy. But I could be wrong.

I also tend to stay away from mods... things break down enough without them so prefer spending time flying than debugging something that broke 🙂

But I still have OVGME there and do use a few mods that do meaningfully enhance the game.

This mod is not necessary but does make the ground objects a lot more visible so quite useful for A/G stuff

@Sr.Hello! Does your mod still work with OB 2.7?

it's not my mod, but I haven't gotten to try it out. Still downloading the update.

I did read in another thread where the update has applied what sound to be similar improvements to sharpening and blurriness.

Yes works with 2.7 and is still an improvement.

Edit: I dunno, maybe I spoke too soon, in my case anyway. With thick white clouds that look blurry and white there seems to be noticeable SDE in my G2. I take it out, it actually looks better. So on the fence now. Geeze

Excellent!

I can also confirm that one of my other favorites works still: CGTC - Caucasus Ground Textures Compilation - v2.0

I tested the Clear Skys mod: Mustang I think. Get a deprecation error. Assuming it's no longer necessary.

FA-18 and F-16 MFD font mods still work.

Life is GREAT!

When creating missions the preselection of clouds are awesome saves so much time creating weather I know it's early days but my flights look so much different loving it.

oh I forgot the mod still works great lol

Do the shaders (Reshade, kegety) need to be reinstalled after update?

The mod still works fine for me. The clouds look a bit strange in VR, almost like they aren't in focus when you get close to them (stereoscopic issue maybe like the same perspective of the clouds going to both eyes?). It's definitely not because of the mod, lots of users on Reddit voicing complaints. If you toggle the shader on and off the clouds are still pretty undefined, but I do think the shader exasperates the apparent effect since with it engaged everything BUT the clouds looks sharp and clear.

I have the rift s also NOT in steam.  I can see in 2d also, but not vr.

I saw a post earlier that someone else couldn't get it to work.

is this typical for rift s?

Yes, it only works in SteamVR. So you need to download Steam + SteamVR if you don't already have it. Then you can use Skatezilla's DCS launcher tool or shortcut commands (I think there's a post somewhere in this thread that shows exactly the command you need) to force DCS to run with SteamVR.

But it is just point and click... once you drop it in JSGME or similar. Nothing hard about that.

This is probably the easiest  mod to use I’ve seen whether you just drop it in the bin or use something like JSGME.

@dburne This will still be needed after 2.7.  Nothing in 2.7 will have this effect.

Can pretty much guarantee that you will like what you see. You may even say Wow! I can see clearly now... the fog is gone.   So much easier on the eyes.

Attached is a Zip file containing the mod already set up for JSGME. Just drop it in your _Mods folder and enable it in JSGME.  Too easy. Once you get it in...when in DCS toggle it on and off with the "end" key and you can see the difference.

 The settings in the ReshadePreset File are a good starting point:

PreprocessorDefinitions=
Techniques=VRSharpenColor@VR_CAS_Color.fx
TechniqueSorting=VRSharpenColor@VR_CAS_Color.fx

[VR_CAS_Color.fx]
Brightness=0.999000
CA Contrast=0.700000
Contrast=1.001000
MaxDelta=0.100000
Saturation=1.100000
Sharpening=1.800000

ReshadeVR.zip 4.43 MB · 19 downloads

Id like to test your mod JSGME 2.7 ready, but I have this error:

hKaXdvD.jpg

Sorry it was this (Smoke mod)

Btw. is it any key for this, to see Reshade menu (settings)? Edit. Ok I have it - HOME/POS1 key .

Nice work with this mod of Reshade.

Is it any way to contact with this Holger Frydrych? No any info in his readme with email ect.

I checked in P3Dv5 also and it works, just noticed big FPS drop.

Can anyone using quest comment on whether they got the light weight version  (sharpereye) of this to run? When I try to use it my DCS just crashes at startup. Also, I've seen people say there's a way to flag DCS for steamVR without using skatezilla, can anyone remember how?

If I'm not mistaken you have to use the dxgi.dll from this https://github.com/fholger/reshade/releases/tag/openvr_alpha2

Have you gotten it to work Diamond? I tried using that dxgi.dll and the game crashed. I saw someone else say the same and I thought it might be an oculus problem.

I use the VR Reshade from the first zip file and never had an issue (either using SteamVR or Open Composite)

Fair enough, I've used the original one as well but I'm on the bleeding edge of performance and I noticed some slight stuttering from toggling it one and off and moving my head around, so I'd like to try the light version.

If you guys are using a mod manager like Open Mod Manager - the best IMO - here is the version I use with bits from both mods.

Interesting because I thought I was the one with less capable graphic system (RTX2060 mobile 6Gb) and I didn't noticed that. In addition I think they are not that different.
