Ah, ok.

I assumed that the author was referring to VR.

Now i've a Reverb G2, and this shader work perfectly.

Previously with a Rift S (an Oculus device, like Wes910 said), i remember that in order for it to work I had to start the sim with SteamVR; however, I can certainly be wrong.

they only work in VR in SteamVR ...

On my Rift S they don't work, i'm not using Steam VR.  But they work in 2D.

With an Oculus device, you need to use SteamVR (or Opencomposite) to see the shader effects in the visor, and not only in 2d menu

I'll pass on SteamVR, way to much hassle, sliders, settings and options. No clue about OpenComposite, never used it (i see it's on Github... will take me half a day to figure out which files i need to download that actually are the real program).

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Opencomposite is extremely easy and in combination with Skatezilla’s utility it made things easy for me.

OpenComposite doesn't work for Oculus in DCS. Replacing openvr_api.dll in dcs\bin folder has no effect. Game launches directly in Oculus runtime so reshade still only visible in 2D

As I said I have no issues using the combination mentioned above. Through Skatezilla’s utility you choose SteamVR API and run Opencomposite. The rest is done by the Skatezilla’s utility. After that you enjoy reshade in VR. If you need I can later on provide some screenshots

But SteamVR is still mandatory then or not?

No, you do not need to use SteamVR, that's the whole point! Skatezilla's utility points to SteamVR API but then OpenComposite takes over. At least this is the easiest way to explain it.

This shader work only with SteamVR; i think you must start in SteamVR mode (adding DCS in Steam VR Games)

Nope.  You just unzip the shaders .zip file into your /BIN directory in the root DCS folder.  In order to see the shaders console, you have to push the "Home" key, and that console only shows on the desktop mirror of DCS.  The console will not show in VR.  If you want to see that its working, just jump into the cockpit in VR and watch carefully while you push the "End" key.  The "End" key toggles the effect on and off, and if its working, you'll see a difference in the color saturation and the amount of haze.

What I meant is that, to see it work with an Oculus headset, I had to use SteamVR or Opencomposite.

Maybe I'm wrong...

Does it work in 2.7? Because i just re-installed it (through OVGME) but no joy. It worked in 2D in pre 2.7 for sure.

My bad, installed it on OB through OVGME but launched Stable instead each time. Normal that it doesn't work then... LOL.

OB launched then, so yes, it still works.

Works with Rift-S through OpenComposite to (thx @diamond26 ).

Got it working on my Rift-S through the means of OpenComposite.

I knew the colors would be more vibrant and so it was.

At first there is a bit of a WOW effect due to harder coloring on the textures which takes out a bit of the overall blurryness.

But then... due to more sharp contrast between the various color differences, it's a lot more prone to shimmering.

After going back and forth between settings on and off, i prefer a bit more blurry textures with less shimmering.

I still need to give MSAA x4 a go but that will hit hard on performance.

Haven't played around with some of the settings yet either, might bring something...

I’ve been messing around with ENB series shader in Skyrim VR, it is basically Reshade on steroids multiply by a factor of 10.  It would be great if this can be adapted for DCS use because the images this shader can produce is just incredible and there are so many things you can do with it (preprocessing, post processing, ambient occlusion, lens effects, godrays, sunrays, rain effects, various sharpening methods, AA’s, etc.)—and it works in VR.

I finally tried this mod and I think it's amazing.

I have always found DCS colours to be too saturated.

Reducing colour saturation gives a more natural color look to the scenery in my opinion.

I have a problem though, every time I make a change I get a message saying that I don't have write permissions for the DCS\bin folder so I need to reapply my settings every time I restart DCS.

Is there a way to fix this?

In order for this to work with oculus hardware, do we need to launch dcs through steamvr?

I think it depends on your Windows user account security settings. Perhaps try launching DCS as administrator. Personally, once I found settings that I liked I just edited ReShadePreset.ini in the \bin folder.
