104th_Money
When not using a preset weather condition and only the 1-10 numerical cloud selection and regardless of the cloud base height selection the clouds are only a few hundred feet from the ground however rain is visible. When using the highest overcast/rain preset, the clouds are quite high but there is no rain. The temperature setting was the same for both tries. PLUTON
Correct, on the other hand I noticed that by using the setting (overcast rain 3) the rain falls but does not make any noise and does not make any marks on the canopy, on the other hand this phenomenon does not occur with (overcast rain 1 & 2 ) not serious but just to report otherwise a big congratulations for this update which has changed our planet

104th_Money
I will try the Overcast 2 for the time being, but the non preset still puts clouds within a few hundred feet of ground regardless of base setting Intel i9-13900k, Asus Z790-E Gaming Wi-fi 2 motherboard, 64gb Corsair DDR5-6400 RGB ram 2x32gb XMP2 profile, 2TB Crucial T700 PCIE 5.0 SSD internal, 2TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIE 4.0 SSD internal, Asus ROG Strix OC GeForce RTX 4090, Corsair 7000X Case with 5 x 120mm side mounted intake fans and 3 x 140mm top mounted exhaust fans, 1 x 140mm rear mounted exhaust fans, front mounted Corsair H150i Elite Capellix 360mm liquid cooler w/Elite LCD with 6 x 120mm fans in 3 push, 3 pull intake configuration, 2 x 32" Asus 2560x1440 displays, TrackIR5 w/pro clip, Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle, CH Fighterstick Pro and Pebble Beach Velocity pedals. If i set the cloud base(no template - like in the screenshots above) to: - 600m i need to fly ~600m ASL to get to the cloud base - 2500m i need to fly ~2200m ASL to get to the cloud base So for me it works fine like before. If you try to combine a template setting(for example Overcast...) and set the cloud base i don't know if that setting will change anything for the template(static for now). 104th_Money
Unknown... So any use of overcast presets or nothing preset with cloud count of 6-10 gives you clouds that are approximately 1000' asl. I created a previous mission with the old weather editor and had a cloud base of 11,000' with rain and thunderstorms. I can no longer create such a cloud base with any type of rain or thunderstorms with or without presets. So I included 3 screenshots. First is the ME screen showing the cloud base set around 11,000 '. I put my cursor over the center of the runway and it is 656' ASL. This is confirmed by the 2nd screenshot of my F-16 on the ground showing 660' AGL. I took off and upon reaching 1,180' I was already inside the cloud base as confirmed by the 3rd screenshot although it doesnt quite show but trust me, I cant see anything outside the cockpit anymore because I am already in the clouds. You can also see how low the clouds are in the runway screenshot as well. So for sure for me at least, it is not working as before. unknown
Hi @104th_Money thank you for the screenshots. I tried to reproduce(using metric not imperial) and it looks the (biggest) problem is the "thunderstorm" setting. With that setting it looks like visibility is drastically reduced, shortly after takeoff you can't see the ground anymore. If you alter that setting to "rain" the visibility is improved, you can still see the ground at ~8000-8500ft but at ~10kft you're in the clouds. So the clouds base setting is working but the "thunderstorm" setting is reducing visibility(adding fog? new effect?). This is probably not helping you if you want the thunderstorm feeling/setting. 104th_Money
Unknown I just tried with the setting at rain only but if you take off and fly from Laughlin heading NNW and get to the little mountain range NW of Las Vegas, the clouds are still so thick that it precludes flying at low level since you cant really see where you are going in enough time. Hope they at least fix the cloud base settings soon... Hippo
To add to this. Sorry if I've missed something, but if not using the new clouds should things have stayed as they were before with the old clouds? Following are screenshots from two missions (which I created a while back). The first used to have an overcast at around 1000 ft so I could practise case II launches. The other was a night mission with no cloud, for case III. They now both look very, very wrong. cont...
