New movie out! 30 hours or so used in editing of this film! I needed to grab all footage at half speed (tip from GA in his movie thread) and because of this, all audio is out of sync. Anyway, sounds recorded from a game from a mic is not any good, so I needed to add all sounds and music in postprocess. Timeconsuming yes it was! Plus side, I managed to record with HDR bloom mod and high scenes etc, more trees etc. AA/AF stills kill the fps so until new rig you have to live without it on my videos!

Hope you like it! Link here:

Be sure to watch it in "High Quality".

Ok i watched it, now for the "tiny review";

At the beginning, the intro and logo you used is barely visible here on my 19" monitor, was too dark, so was the text you had at the beginning.

You had, IMO, too many "static" shots, meaning the camera was just "there", looking at something, without any movement, be it F2 view or the CTRL-F11 freecam view.

And since you are using vegas to edit your video, i suggest removing the HDR mod, and tweak the contrast yourself, because some of the shots were too dark.

And the scene with the A-10's flying towards their targets was kinda repetive, and didnt really add anything except showing the same thing over and over. Some zoomed in shots would really help you out (this goes for the entire movie actually..).

And since you were using camera shake, some suttle camera shaking here and there wouldn't hurt either :)

And about the sound, it's rather ok, but sometimes the timing of the sound effects didnt quite match the footage, while other times it was perfect.

Some sounds were rather too loud as well.

The attack scenes were ok, though the pacing might have been faster, and some variation in the views would also help. And following the bomb as it falls down towards its target is something you should avoid, unless you're trying to tell some sort of "point" as to why the viewer should watch it fall through the air.

And the music? Hmm...where have i heard that before? :D

Overall, it was a nice effort, and please dont think i am slaughtering your movie, this is just MY opinion, and comments about stuff that i would have done differently. :)

Keep it up!! :D

You better get a new monitor! :music_whistling::megalol: heheh...

I know...dunno why the white text suddenly was gray...I am 100% sure I choosed white in PhotoShop...may be because of the codec? About some scenes to dark with bloom etc..I added some contrast because I thought the scenes where a bit lifeless. I choosed to use HDR Bloom mod because I thought it fitted well with time of day of the attack which was 0815. It may be a little to much, agree on that. Maybe I should tweak the config file some more.

About static scenes and repetive scenes. I agree to a certain point. It is my style, I prefer more static scenes as if it is too fast paced, it may be too MTV´ish for my personal opinion. I am sticking to the more classic "old style" of making scenes, I want the action to take place in a certain angle or a flyby. It may sound simple and boring, but I prefer it this way.

I know some scenes where repited a little, but I also had some ground shots and not just F6/F3 scenes.

Sounds out of sync...I found one explosion I just had forgot to fix.. a little off sync on that one, but I think rest of it is pretty in sync? It took a hell of a time adding all sounds in!

About the bombs, I actually wanted to cut it out, but found out it synced with the music so nicely so I kept it! Also seen in Pearl Harbour btw. (Just done A LOT better!)

BTW: YouTube reencode after upload, making it some darker because of the reencode. The original footage is not so dark as in YouTube. Download highres version so see the difference.

:)

If it's your style, then obviously, stick to it! :D

And you're right, i think maybe youtube made some parts darker...

But regarding the HDR mod, i know it makes it look good as you play/record, but my point was you can achieve the same look by playing around with the contrast in vegas, and using glow :)

This way you also have more control of what is beeing shown.

And about adding sounds, yeah, i know how much time it takes. I never record sound from in-game.

I know..having a kid and wife surely takes time...what you CAN do is just think of what kind of movie you will make and write some sort of script when you can. Ideas and think of angles, music and write it all down. So, when you have the time, make a mission or download some of the premade missions on lockonfiles, edit them for your liking, and just fly the mission with "record track" enabled. When you have the time, you can fire up fraps, play with different angles etc and suddenly you have a folder with tons of footage. And then when you have LOTS of time, it´s time for edit! :D
