DCS 2.7 Crash

Thanks for the log. The crash springs from a "igd10iumd64.dll" (Intel graphics DLL). Try to update your graphics driver.

You're also having an error when the game tried to write the crash dump: "CreateFile failed. Error: 32 ". I had never seen this before. Is you drive full?

Hi Flappie! I am running on an iGPU. There are no driver updates.

Thanks!

Even iGPU get updates, only far less often.

What about your drive free space?

As you probably know, your PC is below the minimum DCS requirements (OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better). But I understand you want DCS to work with 2.7 since it was working with 2.5.6. I have no other ideas for you to try, except maybe waiting for a patch, since many users experiment all sorts of crashes since the initial 2.7 came out.

EDIT: sorry I'm repeating myself, I said that in the previous page.

No, my drive has 30 GB left. I compressed the DCS files to make them fit in the hard drive for 2.5.6 and I had 30 GB left. Same with 2.7.

Should I be able to open this file? Attached below

I found it in my C:/Users/(My username)

It says it has 0 bytes

DCS_updater.exe 0 B · 1 download

And this? Should I be able to open the following file. You can see where it was placed above

So I'm thinking about plying 2.5.6 stable and when 2.7 stable comes out I update there. This 2.7 openbeta looks like an alpha release

No, "DCS_updater.exe" shouldn't be here, indeed. Maybe you tried to download it from here and it failed?

I've compared our logs. Your crash happens when DCS is supposed to do something with shadows depending on your settings: "cascade shadows init..".

(left = yours, right = mine)

I then compared our settings and I saw this: some of your settings are missing.

(left = yours, right = mine)

Rename "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\options.lua" into "options.lua.old" and see if DCS gets better.

If it does't, rename the whole "DCS.openbeta" folder.

After options.lua.old renaming are the following files

Hi ive been getting regular crashes too since the 2.7 update....my system specs are i9 10900 KF @5.3ghz , 64 gig ram, and a slightly overclocked RTX 3090 FE....I usually have most settings on high/ultra in 4k and it looks amazing and runs very smooth..
The  thing is it never crashes during the actual gameplay/mission flying part of the sim, only when i end the flying session and go back into the menus, its at some point after then it often crashes...it never crashes in the menus before loading a mission, only after ive flown one!...so i doubt its related to anything to do with hardware...its a software issue as all my other sims, including Il-2 Sturmovik battles, MSFS 2020, rise of flight and a heap load of latest AAA games....all run fine with zero issues or crashes.
DCS 2.7 crashes, but its a gentle (ie software error) crash..not a blue screen of death hardware crash.

@Flappie, can you check this thread?

That is my thread, nothing of use in that one as its covered in this one, and the standard advice has been followed. I can only assume the devs changed something in 2.7 restricting iGPUs or something?

that in there are some settings are missing and that whenever DCS involves shadows "cascade shadows init.."., it crashes.

@Padonis - check this thread.

your crash is is experienced by many other users. the post seems to allude to overclocking on the graphics card. DX11BACKEND: DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0006

@Padonis - the card seems to have at least two modes. one being OC mode. https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1080G1-GAMING-8GD#kf

i recommend opening the gigabyte software and checking.

@TheMightyMirage - DCS requires a discrete video card to run.

New computer,

A 1080 video card can't be new. Please try to reinstall the driver from scratch, use the official NVidia website.
Let know what is the video core temperature when the DCS is running? What is the GPU and video memory frequency when the DCS is running? What power supply are you using? Is it new as well as the video card? What's the power supply's wattage?

According to your report, you have 1936 MHz for GPU. But the first reviews that came across report that the base GPU frequency is 1607 MHz. For example, here:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080/
If I'm wrong, correct me. Perhaps this is not the cause of the crash, but I suggest checking this by reducing the GPU frequency to reference values.
