I'm sure this is a stupid question but what is SPINS?

Not at all, stands for SPecial INStructions, it is a document outlining theater specific rules/procedures etc.  For example in Cerberus North it details all the air traffic control and close air support procedures used in the campaign.

After purchase and downloading, I checked out the included documentation. Holy cow!

This fortifies my thoughts that campaigns are the best value for your dollar in this sim. Just amazing.

Thanks!  Agreed, just lucky I don't charge by the hour lol 😉.  Hopefully you'll get at least 30-35 hours out of this campaign on one play through, and I always make it a challenge to score 100 so incentive to play through again.

Will LWin+Home(Auto Start)work in these missions?  Despite over 400 hours in the Hornet, I've yet to properly learn how to cold start her myself...😅

Yeah should do, I've never tested it but I can't see why not.  Just make sure you still ask for permission to start engines as instructed first.  I don't know how much quicker autostart is than doing a cold start so just be conscious of upsetting the AI if you're too quick out the blocks...it's possible you could block a takeoff and cause some slight bugs.

Hi! Can’t wait to start. A similar question to the auto start chap, will this campaign require the ability to A2A refuel?

Sadly after many hours I still have not done this!

No, there is no requirement for A2A refuelling.  The later, longer missions are split into 2 parts, with part 1 ending behind the tanker and part 2 starting after refuelling so you never have to actually do it if you don't want.  Personally I don't find it a lot of fun, and trying to get an entire strike package through the tanker is just a real pain!

Your missing a lot of fun there. Not too difficult to learn and very satisfying when you do it. Just imho. I actually prefer missions that always start cold start for this reason.

Agreed. I can AAR, but like CHiIING, I don't find it especially fun. Cold starts, on the other hand, are almost a must for me. I get everything set how I like it, and it really helps with systems familiarity. And it helps with the oft-mentioned "immersion" factor.

Yeah AAR is a whole nother story for me, but really I have just not put in the time to properly learn it.

Mission 3
Information from SENTINEL:
" ....We need you to intercept, ID and escort the aircraft until it clears our AOR.  Current position is Portal 291 for 230 miles, angels 22.  Do not approach the Turkish coast line, we are not cleared into that part of Turkish airspace."

What does "Portal 291" mean?

Окурок, выброшенный в урну, гораздо патриотичнее флажочка на автомобиле

What does "Portal 291" mean?

Isn't that the cardinal direction in relation to bullseye?

Bearing 291 from the bullseye 'portal' (See the SPINS).  The coords for portal are in your kneeboard/briefing pack, you will need to add a waypoint and set it as the bulls.  Hope that helps.

I get this too! Glad not just me. I have a pretty low powered rig though 😞

You'll probably see poorer frames around Incirlik as the base and nearby city centre be quite demanding, things smooth out a bit once you're airborne and on your way.

Hello love the detail here but I’m stuck early mission 1. After taking off and tuning COM2 to preset 3 my comm button no longer works. The menu doesn’t appear any more.
Any help appreciated!

Pete is right, if the F10 menu option doesn't appear then recheck the channel and press enter on the UFC.  But this Hornet bug/peculiarity doesn't always appear on Ch3 (it's a strange one).  The option is added once you are at the departure point, which (from memory) is 5 miles out from the runway to clear the pattern.  Also make sure you are on the correct heading (050) and below the overhead pattern (1500 ft AGL), I can't remember without checking but you might need to hit these conditions to activate the departure phase.  Sometimes it can help to exit the comms menu completely and reopen it again as well, the F10 option doesn't always add instantly, can be up to a 1 sec delay so if you open it really quickly it hasn't appeared yet.

Hope that helps, if it doesn't fix it please come back to me and I'll dig deeper, you'll still be able to proceed with the mission though, just fly on to WP1 and things should still work, you'll just lose score.

Tried again with Easy Communications enabled (counter the player guide advice) and it’s working fine. Does that make any sense? I’m in VR and did auto-startup.
Loving the immersion but so easy to become overloaded with flying, navigating, communicating … never mind anything hostile happening!
