There is a place to add it to your Steam VR library once you have added it to your Steam library but can't remember exactly where - it is in there somewhere though.

Well - got it all sorted in the end with WIN+Y ... phew ... had a couple of weird disconnects which closed DCS and wasn't sure if it was the G2, WMR or SteamVR - or DCS! Nevertheless ... awesome experience.

My fiancee says I have wasted a whole day sitting in my room in my own little world. Er ... yes and great it was 😄

Lol yeah and  you will be doing a lot more of that now that you have VR.

Not to mention the money hog it can be. At least it has been for me.

In case you haven't found this already, you can disable the auto switching in the MRP settings...

Thank you…one more question: when not in use isnit safe to leave the G2 still plugged into the power supply? I cannot see a switch to turn it off. I am thinking of screen burn. I guess safest way is to plug in and unplug each time? Or is there another solution?

PS: woke up and got on the machine at 0630BST. Came off the VR half an hour ago 😂

I have my Reverb G2 plugged into a powered USB 3 Hub with individual on/off switches.

I kill the power to the USB and it kills the power to the headset which is nice.

My Index is just the opposite, I have to unplug the AC adapter to kill the power to it.

Mine does not seem to get very warm on my head, however I do have a ductless air unit mounted on my wall in front of me angling the cool air down on me.

Edit: Or are you talking about the PC temps?

Sounds like you maybe need a little better circulation?

My case temp on inside idles around 21c, during gaming it will go up to about 23c.

I'm trying to see what the general airflow direction is? Where is the radiator? Is it on the front of the case, blowing outwards? Because of the fan on the top, blowing into the case, is a little unconventional. Usually air comes in from the front, then out the back and top.

I'm not saying this is the case in your case, but if there are competing fans causing turbulent air, that can negatively affect temps quite drastically. There should be one major direction with all fans working in agreement. It makes a much bigger difference than some give it credit for. And also mind how many fans are pushing vs pulling.

Agree with the above. That could be doing more harm than good. A better solution would be buying a couple of case fans for the top and installing them so they push air out.

As for the G2's power, I just pull the power lead from the break-out box when it's not in use. Not for the sake of screen-burn (it powers off automatically to prevent that) but I just get annoyed at a) MRP opening all the time, and b) the audio switching to the headset. The latter is really annoying because you can't prevent it without disabling the headset audio completely.

Thank you all for the help and advice - I have been having an absolute blast! I have had a few problems, the headset randomly disconnecting. I know about the issues as I have an X570 chipset so upgraded the BIOS to the latest version and there were still issues. So I added a PCI-e usb 3.0 card and oddly enough issues remained. So … I checked out a few YT videos and “think” have sorted the problem. I before had been plugging the USB-C headset connector into the usb-c slot on the new card. Today I used the adapter that comes with the G2 to plug it into one of the “proper” usb 3.0 slots on the add-on card. Secondly, I went into my BIOS settings and device management for PCI slots and changed it from “auto” to “Gen 3” (didn’t select Gen 4) for the slot that runs the add-on usb card. This morning I did two full night missions (Holy Moly, they were fun!!) back-to-back and zero issues. So it seems one of the two changes mentioned above really did the trick for me. BTW, got my other half into the G2 for her first VR experience - she loved it!! Sorry for my crappy filming…

Looking at performance, in a quiet MP Syria server ... the clouds deliver a 10% FPS hit ... and the early morning lighting also has an effect on frame-rate for me. The clouds have issues as we know, and they jitter in an annoying way. Also the cloud details - even at Ultra - is not as good as in 2D it seems to my eyes. Getting around 45fps on the super carrier, going up to around 60fps in the air according to FPSforVR. CPU hovers around 15% and GPU around 90% with temps of 76C. I took some screenshots with FPS for VR running but only the cockpit was grabbed, not the FPSVR box sadly...how do I take a screenie of that?

This is so weird. When I land on the carrier, taxi to stop position, turn the engines off, open the canopy - I swear I can feel a cool breeze over the face. In my small room. Crazy. My fiancée is also getting seriously pi55ed off at the amount of time I am spending in DCS now. What will VR be like in 20 years!!??
