F/A-18C Default Camera Modification

Hi! I am working on a F/A-18C sim and I am having trouble configuring the views. In the Views.lua, I can change the EyePoint's X value and my view will move but when I change the Y value, nothing happens. So currently, my view is stuck the dash. Any Ideas?

I am also very new to DCS so maybe this isn't the way to go about changing the default view.

Thanks!
Brady

Hi! Setting the default view to something custom works. But, the view won't save if the view is outside the default boundaries. In the views.lua, there is a 6DOF line(or something like that) and in there, you can set where the camera can or cannot go. Since I want my view past the dash, I made it so the camera can travel along the X axis a lot further than the default settings. But, the custom camera won't save in the new boundaries. Is that even possible? Ideas?

Thanks!

Brady

Or, is there a way to set a default FOV?

I edit the Snapviews.lua file in the Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\ folder. Snapviews for FA-18C start at about line 2444 and item [13] is the (non-VR) default view. Try setting the viewAngle to about 70.

is there a difference in the effect as compared to doing this using the FOV ZOOM keybinds? thanks 😊

Don't know. I started using the direct edit method when the snapview saving procedure failed to permanently alter the VR and monitor default views I wanted. Playing with the FOV and y_trans (seat height) values got me there.
