Warthog Throttle - Get rid of Idle detent?

Recommended Posts

For Jet sims its great but the Idle detent is a bit of a PITA with WWII sims and it's ~ 20% of the overall throttle throw. I already have the "push-through" AB mod so that end is fine, is there a way to disable the Idle detent part of the throttle throw (or remove the detent in software or hardware) to make the whole range of travel smooth?

I have a feeling Dremel is the only viable option on that one.

Well, for example in IL2 BoX it appears I can set a DeadZone of 80% and still get full throw out of the throttle from the (top of) Idle detent cut-off to end of AB, so the possibility is there, just does not work that way in DCS...

Ah... Sorry, now I understand. Don't have my head on straight today.
Saturation it's what you're looking for i think, but I haven't played around with it that way. Only used it to reduce throw actually.

No problem, I appreciate the input and I did not play with saturation as it was DeadZone in IL2 that fixed it, going in now to try those sliders! I'll report back ASAP..

Edit: In the Controls with the saturation set as shown the throttle reacts exactly as I want (bar on on the Controls page in Pic #2). The throttle goes from Zero to 100% between the top of Idle Cutoff to full throw through the AB detent. Problem is, in the (BF-109K) cockpit it is not seen that way and the throttle jumps to 1500 RPM as soon as you start (TO Instant Mission) and the section below the Idle detent is needed.. just tried increasing the deadzone to 20%, same result.Warthog No-Idle-1.jpg

Just tried setting a User Curve with the 1st 4 sliders set to zero, noticed no effect in the plane, Idle cutoff still required to get below 1500 RPM.. It's almost like all the Axis Settings don't really do anything?

SOLVED! Just found the Warthog Throttle calibration software here. By ignoring the part which told me to set throttle to OFF (which means to lift the Idle Detent and go full back) and just leaving it at the Idle Detent stop, I now have full throttle from the Idle Stop to buried past AB! I have lost the "Idle Detent" capability (in BMS anyway) but really don't care as it's only used for Ramp starts and Alt-i works fine..

Just tested in DCS BF-109, IL2 and BMS.. all is A-OK!

Edit for reference: Looking at the DX button screen in Win10 I see how DX 29 and 30 are in the ON state with the throttles out of the Idle position and OFF when you lift and pull the throttles Into the Idle Cutoff position, so I just set the release state (Idle detent) to Alt-i in BMS AL, seems to work fine!
