VR clouds

Much better this patch, no discernible jitter and I'm seeing much better overall detail and contrast in them in VR.

However, distant clouds pixelate/get really jagged. Not sure what's going on there, some kind of LOD issue?

Changing to ULTRA clouds appeared to resolve some of the closer jagged edges (for meTM ymmvTM).

They're doing some sort of low resolution clouds on the vertical axis so the aliasing is really pronounced.

If you roll your head 90 degrees you'll see the effect is almost gone.  (most clouds are flat not vertical)

Thus, they should reduce the X resolution instead of the Y resolution on the clouds.  Then you would only notice the jaggies during a 90 degree climb/dive.

yes, very  nice first update for vr Clouds, close ULTRA clouds are wonderfull without jitter, distant clouds are a little bit aliased but it's ok for a reduced clouds jitter. the final FIX will be great

this game is incredible 🤘

Yes it does.

Clouds 2.7.1.70290

So the Jitter is fixed in clouds which is fantastic news, however, unless they are set to ultra there is quite a bit of aliasing and stair stepping, especially when close to the horizon, or edge of a mountain side etc... however their is a significant performance hit associated with clouds, I have only tested light scattered clouds at the moment I will do a fuller test against other cloud types if I get a chance:

Frametime in ms  Delta From Baseline
Ver Test Baseline GPU CPU GPU CPU  Changes
2.7.1.70290 55 Test 26  11.06 7.33     baseline 2.7.1.70290 (clear sky)
2.7.1.70290 56 Test 55 12.76 7.53 -1.70 -0.20 light scattered clouds (low)
2.7.1.70290 57 Test 55 12.92 7.72 -1.86 -0.39 light scattered clouds (standard)
2.7.1.70290 58 Test 55 13.13 7.53 -2.06 -0.20 light scattered clouds (high)
2.7.1.70290 59 Test 55 14.88 7.64 -3.82 -0.31 light scattered clouds (ultra)
2.7.1.70290 60 Test 55 14.95 7.64 -3.88 -0.31 light scattered clouds (ultra)test 2

so whilst they are very pretty, they do come with a huge frametime cost. I would seriously recommend either turning off MSAA, or dropping to 50% resolution in order to compensate for the effect of clouds , if you cant deal with the horizon shimmer and have to run at ultra.  If you can deal with the shimmer, then I would choose "standard" clouds as the current compromise... and the fix is almost as bad as the original problem.
