Will there be additional carrier landing nets to replace the arresting hooks lost due to damage...?

This is something for ED to think about, and not sure if they plan on a working barrier, but we'd ofc love to see one. 🙂

Great stuff! I'm especially happy about the RIO fixes and enhanced sync with the pilot pit!

There seemed to be a bug where the AI instantaneously knew of a TWS Phoenix launch and began evading; is that part of the patch?

AI behavior is not under HB jurisdiction.

Has any work at all started for transitioning the 54 from old missile logic to the new one yet?

Yes indeed - hopefully this process won't be too long.

This feature is going into initial testing later this week - unfortunately we couldn't get it into this patch!

As noted in the lead-in, we’re now continuing work on the next major update to the F-14, focused greatly on further aircraft improvements, changes to the AIM-54 and further feature additions such as JESTER LANTIRN.  This is all wrapped in the major task that is completing the final Forrestal class art overhaul and releasing the first version of that to you all.  Stay tuned for more updates on these items soon as we blaze ahead and start hitting Early Access completion milestones!

We greatly hope you’ll enjoy experiencing this latest update to the F-14. Thank you as always for your amazing support.

Sincerely,

Team Heatblur

Great updates! Looking forward to today's update.
Concerning the future pipeline, unless i missed it, you didn't mention on the flight/drag model updates? How are those progressing? Is there a determinable estimate on how long before we can expect them?

We've finished the main body of work on this, and we're now getting into fine tuning together with our SME in a separate branch. It's still a ways off; but definitely progressing well.

Some great stuff in this update and the burble will make landings even more interesting, but I'm not so happy that this is now a function of the Tomcat module, while IMHO it should be a core function of DCS World, made by ED.  :noexpression:

(I'm of course not blaming HB for that!)

Well, it is similar like the wake turbulence. If ED sees it is a good addition to the Carrier experience, I do not see why they wouldn't do it themselves at some point, like they did with the wake turbulence. 🙂

For us it makes more sense to have it in the module, so we can adjust its effects it had on the Tomcat precisely with SME feedback, etc.

I hope that Jester can use the IFF faster now.

Not yet, it wasn't part of the update and is pending implementation.

Also, once you tackle the B EIG, make sure to correct that typo on the hydraulic gauge reading "COMP" intead of "COMB". 😛

Why is that a typo? It is compass control panel, not combass control panel. Am I missing something?

No, on the hydraulic pressure gauge next to the engine instruments, you have FLIGHT and COMBINED hydraulic system indications and it should say "COMB" for the combined system. Simply reference various real A/B/D Tomcat cockpit pictures or videos, or the NATOPS.

Burble effect is a core feature of DCS, and will be enable on the hornet in a future patch.

Yeah, that's the very reasons why I don't think it's a good idea if third parties implement this effect in parralel. At best it's a waste of development ressources, in the worst case it clashes with EDs burble when it comes. 😕

Oh, so ED is also creating this effect based for certain aircraft only? I was hoping for a burble effect in the core (weather) simulation of DCS. Well, then it's not an issue of course if 3rd parties do their own burble effect. In fact, they have to do it then.
