Exactly, respawn with the Tomcat freezes DCS. Not always but too often. this must be the biggest problem ATM

I experience this too and so does my brother. (completely different machine, country, and continent).

 

I also noticed that the Marianas Free-Flight freezes (not 100% consistently) when you start the mission, and dive down towards the island in front of you; while doing so, repeatedly press the different hud modes (landing, a/a, a/g, etc.). I was skeptical of this (because my brother reported it to me) until I managed to do the exact same thing.

 

I don't know if it's the map, DCS 2.7, or the F-14, but since this map is using the "new graphics engine" (according to ED), I wouldn't be surprised if clicking things didn't cause problems.

My Tomcat is running so smooth and don’t have to tweak my settings in vr anymore when flying it. Before I had to turn things down in VR to compensate in Multiplayer but now it’s been an absolutely smooth fly.

Only the freeze thingy every once in awhile but as far as performance it’s on par.

No, I don’t know how long it’s going take… yesterday I frozen 4 times when trying to play online and I just gave up. At least I can always play your excellent campaign, which I already started (Fear The Bones). 
 

in the meantime, online playing with the Tomcat is just a frustration source, I switched to warbirds completely for online affairs …

I've also been experiencing some crashes when switching the hud to landing mode.

I do not know am I the only one having troubles with Jester. I see bandit on my radar screen. I tell J to take a lock, but he just tell me ”no can do”. Time after time. So I’m just using sidewinders, ’cause Phoenix is now unusable…

Was this radar track or DL track? Jester don't lock DL tracks unless Lock Specific Target menu is choosen (it used to work before).

Was the radar track already IFF'ed as bandit? Jester can't perform Lock Enemy if the target is not marked as hostile already. Use Lock Target Ahead instead.

There may be other causes but best is to upload a video or screenshots of your issues.
