The hind in VR is king

Just saw the cockpit in 2D for the first time, when I was trying to playback a mission recording for a video. It is like another bird. I feel that this module is especially strong in VR. The asymmetric cockpit glass and the comparable big cockpit make it look very different in VR.

i am enjoying every minute I am flying her.

p.s. I can finally land the beast!

Yes - what is VERY GOOD in VR it has good scale! I was in cockpit of Hind few times and the size in VR is very ok (I use IPD in sim 59).

Hmmm. I normally don't use in-sim IPD, but I had to for the Hind because the cockpit was too large when unchecked. I have it set to 85 right now.

85? Switches looks like toys ;). The cockpit of Hind is spacious.

🙂 oh it's spacious? I'll try default again and see the differences. Thanks. But on topic, the cockpit is amazing in VR.

You won't see me a long time on the SC deck, I guess...

It's so much freaking fun to maneuver this tank between trees and buildings. Would not be half the fun in 2D.

Regarding the upcoming Apache I even consider a very expensive heli-cyclic and some anti-torque pedals. I still fight myself to not buy, but it will be a hopeless battle.

You absolutely must get a collective lever too - you won't regret it. And agree 100% with OP the Hind is so exciting to fly in VR.

Same here. But I surrendered too easily.  Plus with the Apache (and maybe even the Hind) I'm seriously thinking about getting some type of motion simulator in addition to all the other goodies already mentioned.

Can anyone recommend a good but reasonably priced motion simulator that might work well on helicopters? I'm probably gonna have to end my retirement and go back to work to pay for all the stuff DCS is making me buy!

That is probably another nice upgrade. A force feedback base is also something to think about. But the one I found is really expensive...

There are a couple of collectives coming on the market, Virpil , Winwing and some general rumours that VKB and is also making one.

virpil's collective is already preordered.

but what will make you really fly a helicopter is some kind of cyclic and anti-totque pedals. At the moment I got my virpil base on the ground with about 30cm extension and the TM hornet grip + TM pendular rudder. It works quiet well, but I keep visiting the komodo website these days...🧐

Agreed, While I think a collective would be awesome for immersion but a proper cyclic would be fantastic. Hopefully one of the 3 big boys is looking to do a FFB base with the new interest in Helos.

I have looked at at Virpil collective but haven't seen any good reviews as of yet.

For pedals I use VKB's, would be great for them to have dampener kit or something, while not FFB it would be better.  I do fly jets and Helos so a quick change kit would be great.
