I running an 8700K @ 5.2ghz with 32gb of 3200 DDR4 ram and a Evga 1080ti along with a first gen Reverb head set. I would like to get DCS smother in VR. What would be by best upgrade option?

Upgrading my CPU or Going from the 1080ti to a 3080 or a 3080ti?

Is the 3080ti worth it over the 3080?

Would getting a Reverb G2 make an improvement I can give my G1 to my Grandson?

13700K, MSI Z690 D4 Edge wifi, Swiftech H360X3 Cooling with Corsair Water Block, Gigabyte 4090 OC, G-Skill Z 3200mhz DDR4 @ 3333 CL16, Evga 850W G2 power supply, TM Warthog,  MFG Crosswinds Rudder, TrackIR 5, HP Reverb 2, Pimax Crystal

The 3080 Ti would give you more Vram  than the 3080 which DCS likes.

Yes - in VR it seems to be about VRAM with DCS…go with as much as you can (with nVidia 😉)

Now the hard part finding a 3080ti. I put my name on Evga's list for a 3080ti FTW3 and a 380 FTW3 only 2gb difference don't know how much hat will hurt performance my biggest question is it worth it 889.99 for the 3080 and 1399.99 for the 3080ti . My 1080ti FTW has served me well. I run the pixel density at 1.0 and it's smooth with a slight mini freeze once in he while and I would like go move the sliders higher.

Good luck with the EVGA waiting list for the FTW3.  I've been on there since early November of 2020 for the 3090 FTW3 and still haven't heard anything.

The best value for money would be to sit tight and wait for the Vulkan API. Perhaps it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. I suspect at first pass it wont however, ED has been pretty good at finding tweaks in various elements of their platform that make small gains over time. While it’s a different API, another well known civilian sim was recently upgraded to DX12. It was previously unplayable and now, I get a smooth 45FPS which as I understand it translates to 90 FPS when motion smoothing is on. Cost of new equipment $0.
