depending on how your stick/throttle work if you bind your zooms to a button that holds the press or use this Zip's Instant Zoom keybind mod (digitalcombatsimulator.com)

@speed-of-heat Perhaps a silly question, but how does that mod differ from the standard VR zooms in the UI layer? I think I tried a few months back when I first got VR but had some issues getting it working and then discovered the options below so never investigated further.

it is a toggle, so it should just "hold itself on" if you bind it to a toggled switch it makes no difference

In 2d when you use zoom with trackir or and other methot zoom is very stable but in VR when you zoom, image is very shaky. Is there any cfg. option to minimize that effect.

What VR headset are you using?  It may be unstable tracking like we tend to get with HMDs like the HP Reverb G2.  I have found that I get my best tracking, ironically, with dimmer lighting in the room.  Any instability in your tracking is going to be amplified when you zoom in on something.

My apologies for late respond. I have Rift S and it work perfect and also use both zooms in UI layer and they work as they should. In real life when you use camera and zoom in there is built in image stabilizer to prevent shaking that was what I mean. If you use max zoom in VR there is shaking as it would be in real life with camera zoom in without image stabilization. That was my question. Sorry for my English I try to explain best I can. Thank you all for respond.

Nothing wrong with your English.  That's why I mentioned possible tracking issues, but the Rift S shouldn't have those problems.  No image stabilization on this one...just think of it as carrying a simple pair of binoculars in the cockpit with you (as A-10 pilots sometimes do).  The image is going to shake around a little bit, just like it would in real life.  It is also happening with your TIR, its just not as noticeable because in 2D you don't have a sense of scale.  😎

1. We have smoothing filters in TiR for that.

2. We usually have higher fov in the area we focus on in the VR which makes it more sensitive.

Our head is moving constantly but our eyes are used to focus perfectly stable on one point. Focus at something on your desk with your Mk. I eyeballs and align it with the tip of your nose. You'll notice the nose is not stable while the desk image is perfectly stabilized.
