The RAID function does not seem to scan the area around the target, but rather RAID is scanning around the elevation of the radar before the target was locked. This happens if you use button or axis, but not if you apply elevation via AZ/EL. Thats why you loose the target if you exit RAID when it's doing a scan and the elevation has changed since STT was made as reported here.
