DCS Dynamic Campaign - Open Up a New Market

With the upcoming release of DCS's dynamic campaign engine, I know a lot of flight simmers who aren't into combat, but very interested in logistics.  With the logistics focus of the dynamic campaign engine it would open up new possibilities for simmers who are interested in hauling equipment and troops throughout the theater of operations.  C-130s, C5 Galaxies may be something these pilots would love to fly.

IANAP but how easy would it be to convert non-combat aircraft from other well known civvy sims into DCS?  There are already excellent PC-12, PC-6 ,C-208, C-130, DC-3/C-47 and BAe-146 modules available, not to mention countless airliners.  It seems a waste to start from scratch on these projects when from an outside perspective the hard work is already done.

Laptop Pilot. Alienware X17, i9 11980HK 5.0GHz, 16GB RTX 3080, 64GB DDR4 3200MHz, NVMe SSD. 2x TM Warthog, Hornet grip, Virpil CM2 & TPR pedals, FSSB-R3, Cougar throttle, Viper pit WIP (XBox360 when traveling). Rift S.

NTTR, SoH, Syria, Sinai, Channel, South Atlantic, CA, Supercarrier, FC3, A-10CII, F-5, F-14, F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, F-86, Harrier, M2000, F1, Viggen, MiG-21, Yak-52, L-39, MB-339, CE2, Gazelle, Ka-50, Mi-8, Mi-24, Huey, Apache, Spitfire, Mossie.  Wishlist: Tornado, Jaguar, Buccaneer, F-117 and F-111.

DC was promised for this year but they went dead silent about it. They don’t seem to understand how important that DC is...

They probably do. The problem is managing expectations, exactly because of how important it is.

Every time it's brought up, everyone seems to be expecting the on-going full-theatre campaign engine from that other game. ED need to figure out, not only how to make a dynamic campaign generator, but also how to communicate what is actually possible in such a way that those expectations are tempered.

It's a non-trivial tightrope to walk.

...Dozens of people depend on ED for their livelihood.  I would think that they "do" know how important DCS is.  They also are keenly aware that they hold the top spot in a singularly niche market.

They also realize that their original code base is going on 15 years old, and fixing anything major would involve a complete re-write of the game engine's core.

Where did they promised that ? In their 2021 roadmap they just said this:

They said that external betta testing is planned for this year but not promised. Also plans can change.
