In the producers's notes, we read "4808" on the control panel of the HUD, where you adjust brightness, etc. What is 4808? It is hand-written I suppose... Does it have a meaning?

Sorry if asked before... I was not able to find an answer via the search function...

Phonenumber to Wags :D

Ok...

Hmm seems it is really hand written, interesting, but I don't know :S

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Not only 4808. Take a look at p.233 in the Ka-50 Black Shark Manual. But in the game it clearly reads 4808. Perhaps this is a cheat code of some kind? Or number of testings performed with this HUD 'Ranet' device?

Hm, I see "04809" there... :)

I think it is a place where pilot can write down some notes if he doesn't have any paper nearby ;)

Maybe it's some subtle manipulation of the forum users.

I wonder how many people choose 4808 as there pin number next time they are requested for it...oooh conspiracy. :D

Oh and that image quite clearly says 4809. There could also be a pre-leading 0, but it could also be smudge.

likes the cockpit art team were trying to add some realism to the HUD. it looks like a serial number etched into the face by the techs who installed it. I think its a nice touch.

We sim pilots are 'different'... Imagine any others, like CoD4 players, who investigating in threads, WTF is the number in the M14 SOCOM rifle; or those who play starcraft are wondering, what can be inside of those bars and shops in the fifth campaign map.. :D I can't

Really should be serial, or a sort of marking by maintainers. But it's a common habit here in Hungary, that the board number of the aircraft IS written somewhere inside the canopy, maybe just for the case if the pilot/crew forgets which plane is he sitting in :D

It's the release date of BS in the West.. 4809; 8th of April 2009. They were hoping for the April 08 hence 4808. :noexpression:

Or how many days BS has been in development ;) .

Or 4th August 2008/9...and if that is so I will cry.

I think It's just there to prevent some Members from asking questions like:

"I saw graved numbers written on every KA-50 below the HUD in RL. Why I can't see them in my Copy of Black Shark?"

Maybe the numbers are just there to see how many idiot people will wonder why they are here  it's a mind trap

I guess its some kind of number slapped on after gone through some checks or whatever? Weird with it that big though and in that place... Numbers are painted or graved/stanced(spelling?) on weapon parts too though. Dont know... I think ill go with Xjikz idea. :D
