Can it be that the Display Type Selector no longer works? I only noticed changes in FRIEND mode.

Or is that normal?

This function only changes threat display priority. As long as nothing locks you up, you wont see any difference (except in friendly). If there are two radars locking you (e.g a SAM and a fighter) the RWR will prioritize the lock/launch warning accordingly to show either the SAM or the fighter radar.
