Reverb G1 6900XT 30 fps ??

Hi

I have a reverb G1 with 6900XT and I have a new problem on DCS (I used to play without problem 6 month ago but I made a pause) : even in LOW setting in F16 free flight mission I have 30 fps on fpsVR.

I use my HMD with The lab for example, 90fps no problem.

I deleted saved game folder, restart my HMD and computer, no effect. Any idea how to search and find the problem ?

Steam VR is 102% 2220x2176

Thanks

That's your problem right there: too many pixels to render, which brings even the most modern PC to its knees. I assume you mean both global SS and game-specific SS?
I have a 6900XT as well, and have global SS set at 100%, game-specific at 50% (for a total of 76%), and DCS PD at 1.0

We'll have to wait a few more generations for PCs to be powerful enough to render the Reverb's native resolution.

Sounds like you have the WMR settings at 60hz if you are seeing 30fps. I comfortably get a solid 45 with my G1 for reasonably lightweight missions and the occasional 90 on very lightweight stuff

Have you looked at the VR tab in DCS to see what your Pixel Density is set to?  I think your SteamVR resolution is fine, but your DCS pixel density might be higher than it should be.  Any chance you could post screenshots of your graphics settings page in DCS and the VR page?  I agree with Baldrick on the refresh rate.  Check your refresh rate in your WMR settings to make sure its set at 90.  I'm thinking that updates to Windows, WMR, and SteamVR in the past 6 months since you played last may have changed some of your settings.

G1 has different percentage numbers in SteamVR. 100% means the native, about 2160x2160 per eye resolution. 6900xt should be more than sufficient to run G1 with 100%. (By the way, i’m able to run G2 with 75% SS, about 2700x2700 resolution with my 2080S and i have quite stable 45+ fps everywhere else execpt marianas.)

If you open FPSVR settings, Advanced, Frames Data Logging, and ensure "Enable Keyboard shortcut.." is on, you can start and stop capturing frame data with RCtrl+F11 while in mission.

After you stop this will write a CSV file that you can open in Excel.

Hi,

Thanks Shaun for the tip.

I made a lot more test.

  • The main problem with F16 instant free flight mission are the clouds : they are a lot and in ULTRA they make fps go below 45 fps. With normal I am at 60 fps. I know F18 free flight mission to make my tests.

  • I have a kind of shaders problem : with my old fxo and metashader folders : nearly 70 fps on F18 mission. If I delete them I go down to 66 fps. If I delete fxo and metashaders folders and I use @speed-of-heat clear water shader I go down to , I thought it normally increases fps ? It make maybe 10 min to compile shader for the first time.

Don't know of it's normal ? if someone could help me ?

Thanks

ultra clouds with MSAA are a problem in VR . either reduce them or MSAA or use

the latest build can be found here.

oh yes thanks

it seems fine with your shader now, don't know why but I go from 70 to 85-90 fps 🙂

I already tried FSR with your settings but it makes me crash arriving in cockpit. Will try again.

So you use MSAAx4, FSR, your shaders pack and ultra clouds finally ?

Thanks

Thanks all for your help.

I followed @speed-of-heatfantastic guide

I use his clear sky shaders, FSR and Shadowreduced Frame Rate Impact mod and I have now a solid 90fps in simple flight even with MSAAx2.

Clouds on ULTRA with MSAAx2 is really bad for FPS but FSR helps a lot !

F16C free flight mission benchmark during 1m30s

  • MSAAx2 Clouds High no FSR : 69 fps
  • MSAAx2 Clouds Ultra no FSR : 55 fps
  • MSAAx2 Clouds High FSR : 87 fps
  • MSAAx2 Clouds Ultra FSR : 63 fps
  • MSAAx4 Clouds Ultra FSR : 60 fps

Thanks and good flight !

  • 3 weeks later...

does the FSR hack work on non VR game play ie a 1440p monitor,  dont have VR and run a old GPU (rx570).  If i could squeeze a few extra FPS out my card it would be great.
