That's technically the TDU or TEDAC display unit. and the ones left and right are MPDs. But aside from lame naming conventions. Looks amazing. Very very nice work! Also. I usually wouldn't usually add this disclaimer but things aren't always taken as meant in text. I'm being a smart ass, I don't think anyone cares what you call it. Well mtad's guy probably does but no one else. I think your work is super impressive. Very nice job. hannibal
Thanks everyone! Hey..so I shared files on thingiverse. It doesn't show up. I just started a thingiverse account. When I login, I see the thing listed but when I click on link..it says 404 error.. I have paused my Grip build for a while bit busy lately(just added some buttons lately still working on a good trigger design https://imgur.com/a/m02QE36).. But some switches have arrived, but the buttons I have ordered are kinda small and no click at all.. I like my buttons to be clicky, anybody could recommend a good push button with a nice click at the bottom? If you use the printable POV's that are arround on Thingiverse, they are nearly identical with the one TM used in their FLCS and even in the newer stuff like the WH or the Cougar. I made my holes for POV's 17.25mm in diameter. For the buttons I use, I made holes in 12.5mm diameter for the medium buttons and 7.5mm for the small ones. I use same buttons as in those pics for my HOTAS projects. Not top notch, more far away from it but everwhere to get (eg. ebay). You know any more switches that have a nice click to it?.. I bought something similar to this 2nd picture but doesnt have that click in the end..

hannibal
i saw this, if it helps anyone wanting to do something with two stage trigger. as far as my build, i do not think im going to do two stage.. maybe if i saw what the actual game controls are. just because there are controls in real life, doesnt necessarily mean ED will have it in game. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4500236 find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

However I think you can probably get away with the weapon trigger being single stage. On your left hand grip you have the weapon trigger (which is also on both cyclics)and is a bit different from what you are used to with two stage triggers in other aircraft where the first stage is usually some form of laser ranging or stabilization and the 2nd detent is fire. On the Apache on the other hand, the first stage fires your weapon if within constraints, and the 2nd detent overrides constraints inhibiting the weapon from firing and firing them anyway (barring any safety inhibits which can not be overridden). So binding just the 2nd detent would probably be good enough for DCS purposes. As for the the laser trigger on the right hand grip, the first detent is laser ranging, and the 2nd detent is laser designating. I imagine you'll want to have a way to bind both, unless you always want to be firing your laser designator every time you try ranging something (which is a crucial part of storing targets in your TSD).

The TEDAC is pretty much the same as where I left off(https://imgur.com/a/m02QE36). My printer will arrive next week so.. yay. at least can do test print to see "ergonomics" of things. And I'm new to 3d printing as well so it wont be same as printing on paper it might not go so well at first print. And the buttons uhhggg cant seem to find the right one, has anyone know what push buttons does Winwing use? I like them a lot slightly long travel and very clicky. Btw will this https://imgur.com/a/ai3tagP work for the slew? its a ps4 analog joystick. Damn this journey has so much to learn still 3d print/electronics/coding. Viper1970
At the moment there is sooo much I want to get ready. I must get my "command unit" working, cause it's also the place (workstation) I want to do my 3D work in future. I already started a bit with the pure shape of the TEDAC grips and also shared this, but it's really only a very basic shape at all, nothing hollowed, no details, no dimensions compared or anything else. I wanted to do the TEDAC grips step by step when my unit is running, cause it's really a pain to do 3D on my HTPC, which is only a Phenom II 955 @ 3,6Ghz with an GT1030 and 8Gb of Ram. Most of the modeling-time goes by while this good old PC is calculating. It's good for TV or music but not for this kind of work. In the command unit I have an Ryzen 7 2700X, a RTX 2060 and 16GB of Ram which should be an enormous step up compared to the HTPC and also make things a lot faster in 3D modeling, especially in Meshmixer. Viper1970
A desktop version of TC would be ok, but sadly this will never happen. So many people in the TC forum asked for this, but without any succsess. A program as simple as TC but with some slightly more advanced features would be a dream, but I searched for something like this for so long and never was able to find anything. What distracted me personaly always from using anything else as TC and MM was the amount of time you have to invest to do some simple things that in TC even do not need any knowledge. Just pick a part and connect it with another part and you are ready. All is simple and logical. Things that in other programs, as simple as they seem, can really exasperate you. Hey, we live in 2021, why is there no 3D modeling software that is intuitive and simple to use besides this one program. You can even do real cool things without beeing a CAD engineer if the software is intuitive and simple to use.
