pokeraccio
Hi, is this the normal engine behavior? Or me just forgetting something. Seems like a continuous backfire effect from engines exhaust. Art-J
@pokeraccioI think you meant this constant rich-mixture exhaust flame effect? Unfortunately, all warbirds got it with DCS v 2.7, it's just more visible in Mossie, with these stacks right next to pilot's face. As razo+r noted, we have to live with it until it's tweaked to something more accurate. Diesel_Thunder
A nice touch is using the mixture control on the rear of the throttles, it makes the flame effect more or less intense as you adjust it. 1 1 PC: MSI X670E, Ryzen 9 7900X, 64GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3090 Ti, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Flight pedals, Opentrack Link to my Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DieselThunderAviation Commander, 62nd Virtual Fighter Squadron Join the 62nd VFS today! Hornetjock
I have never heard an idling Merlin sound this way. It is far too exaggerated and needs correcting in the first be-bug. It sounds more like small arms fire from Germans invading the airfield!

Kiwi_Viper
yeh like jonsky7 says its right all merlins do that even the packard merlin in the P51, as for the exhaust yeh i dont like it much they dont have a flame once there running in daylight they have a blueish tint at night but thats all. have seen many a merlin here running and never seen flames like that except on startup. hazzer
They don't have visible flames in daylight, unless over primed! That would also be a nice feature, the ground guys shouldn't get it right all the time! You would expect pops and bangs quite a bit when you close the throttle on landing, till the prop rpm and engine stabilises as your speed reduces. pokeraccio
Thanks a lot to everybody. The visual effect I'm reporting is about those visible flames from exhaust all the time in flight in every engine regime, a bit strange. So it is more a DCS 2.7 sort of bug on WW2 warbirds (already reported?) than specific to this module, not its normal behaviour (I never had the chance to fly in a real one). thanks 1 Pokeraccio Forum: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Spitfire LF Mk.IX QRH / Checklist / Pilot's Note Kneeboard by Pokeraccio
Hornetjock
All that "popping and banging" at idle sounds like an invading army and NOT a healthy engine.
pokeraccio
Quote It's supposed to be like that in DCS. Quote As razo+r noted, we have to live with it until it's tweaked to something more accurate. Ok, we'll wait for a DCS patch to fix it, then. At night the "effect" is quite too much, is it an only VR bug or also 2D is like this? Besides that, the interior night flight deck lighting is amazing.
