Buzzer1977 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I can't find what's the difference between Spitfire IX and the CW version. Does anybody know ? AMD Ryzen 9 5950x, MSI MEG x570 Unify, G.Skill 128GB DDR4-3200, MSI RTX3090 Ventus 3x 24GB, Samsung PCIe 4.0 M.2 1TB 980 Pro, Seagate PCIe 4.0 M.2 2TB FireCuda 520, Quest 3
Art-J Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Also, apparently it's little bit faster and rolls a little bit better. Otherwise, they're identical. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Nealius Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Faster roll rate and I believe tuned to be faster at lower altitudes. Not good at higher altitude.

The Merlin 66 is both the clipped and non clipped wings should be identical; there is no tuning. Any performance increase at low altitude comes from the increase in wing loading and concurrent reduction in induced drag. Also lower form drag and marginally less weight. All of the stated allow better acceleration and a slightly faster top speed at low to medium altitude. As altitudes increase however, the higher wing loading penalises performance as at these altitudes a larger wing is more beneficial; think of lower wing loaded wing of making more of what little air is available at those heights. 1
