Practice Convoy Attack (F/A-18C)

 

A very simple mission in which a lone F/A-18C attacks a moving convoy of 10 trucks protected by armed vehicles. Player can select pre-configured ordinances such as Mk-82, Mk-83, Hydra rockets, etc. Suitable for familiarisation.  Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Begger's Canyon (BK-90 Edition)

 

It is modified mission found in AJS-37 Instant Action. The player flies fast and low in a valley protected by SAM sites and reach the plant at Waypoint 5. The Viggen carries 4 BK-90 instead of high-drag bombs. To make it slightly more challenging, local defenses are added near the target.

 

Persian Gulf map is required

The goal is to practice using Track-while-scan (TWS) radar mode. All the player planes are armed with missiles which can make use of the radar mode. The targets, all at Ace skill level, can be called through the communication menu. Some are equipped with chaff and flare where available, while some are armed with guns and SRM.

And the regular version also has the magificant A-4E-C added, which is oddly quite fun to fly.

Pick one of the flyable aircraft below, and their pre-configured loadout, and attack a group of vehicles heading toward Hoover Dam:

Only non-guided ordinances are available. Nevada map is required. Plan to add MB-339B and AH-64D when they are available. This is a beta version. I am not able to complete the mission in every single options I put in, so I am not sure if some of them are actually impossible. Obviously, one cannot eliminate the whole convoy in one go due to the loadout limitations.

Updated on 31-10-2021: Add JF-17 and M-2000C as targets. Add F-15 S/MTD as flyable as the version 1.2 is equipped with a gunpod. However, the current gunpod is so weak, it barely damages for the time being.

• Add MiG-29G as flyable,
• Add MiG-29M and Su-27SM as targets,
• Give all planes full fuel
• Apply some polish.

Both MiG-29M and Su-27SM are more entertaining dogfighters, which is, according to the mod creator, are not what they are intended to be.

I experiment and add MB-339 as a target but I cannot make it to fight. May be I would wait for the pay version to see how it fares. BTW, should i put in the A-4E-C as the target?

Low-alt anti-ship with rockets and guns AV-8B Edition (hard mode)

Continuing my obsession with low-alt high-speed missions, here is another variation of the "low-alt anti-ship" mission in which the player flies an AV-8B NA. Objective: fly through the valley low and fast and reach the sea where a damaged cruiser is. Use guns and rockets to sink the ship. Modified from the MB-339 mod mission, here is the twist:

1. The visibility is worse
2. CAP makes up of 2 angry Hornets instead of fellow Harriers, shows up either when the ship is sunk or your Harrier gets detected
3. Instead of 1 Huey, the target is protected by 2 Hinds
4. The player has only 6 minutes to sink the ship or the mission fails automatically

Practice: TWS or Air-to-air Missile Defense version 2-1

I change the way how the target plane group is generated. The random way remains but this time the player just flies over Rota island.

The second way is hit one or more static planes placed on the AFB. Hit the plane with cannon to select it. There are 2 groups: to the north, indicated by red smoke, generates planes armed; and the eastern group, indicated by green smoke, generates planes unarmed.

Both may not be ideal and your suggestions and bug reports are welcomed. Thank you.

To choose target plane group, there are 2 ways:

1. Fly straight to waypoint 1, the Rota Island, a random group of Ace-level planes, from the target plane list about, are generated; or
2. On the northern and the eastern side of the AFB, there are static planes on the ramps. To select the plane to play against, fly over the smoke cloud above the static planes, then target planes of the same type selected appear when fly over waypoint 1, the Rota Island. Plane types found on the northern side are all armed, while the eastern side are all unarmed.

All the target planes generated appear near the Saipan island and fly toward Rota Island. They carry chaff, flare, and ECM pods where applicable.

All armed planes carry at least 2 short-range missiles (SRM). Depending of plane type, some planes hold up to 4 missiles, either all SRM or a mix of SRM and medium range missile (MRM).

Fly over zone is an experimental feature, as an alternative to hit-and-select as found in TWS 2-1

This is an expanding mission pack of the earlier mission: Practice Convoy Attack (F/A-18C)

Mission remains the same, intercepts a convoy protected by APC and mobile AAA. But the planes available expand a lot:

Each has different set of, mostly dumb, weapons. Each plane has its own directory so if you do not have, or do not fly any planes, you can safely play with the rest.
