AI Climb Rate - Poorly Implemented - Needs Resolution and Dev Time.

Fistly please brief yourself with this post as an example.

Note this issues seems to apply for all Warbirds content, how are we in this position?

Please can the dev's have aircraft climb at acceptable boost pressure and speed rather than some set figure that effectively means player aircraft are having to max out to keep up with the AI (and exceed continuous manifold pressure).

Also why are the AI (and in this example the player P-47 also) able to climb at max boost which in reality would lead to an engine failure (thought the improved damage model was here)?  All climb rates should be set at or slight below max continuous manifold pressure, not emergency war power.

This affects every campaign released for Warbirds content.  Needs resolution as a matter of priority by the WW2 team.

Agreed, except pilots didn’t climb at or below max continuous. That would be 45” and 2600 rpm in the Mustang and the AI would take ages to reach their assigned altitude. That would ruin ww2 missions even more than now.

I reported this to ED already. I think the main problem is their acceleration and deceleration. When they start to climb they pitch up, decrease power to 0, until they reach climb speed then power up instantaneously. That’s why it’s so hard to follow them. They decelerate at 0% throttle and accelerate at 100%.

Yes, they also use too high power settings too. But when they are your wingmen they don’t and lag way behind you.
so yeah, this really needs attention.

If it's impossible to climb in P-51 at more than 46/2700, how the tests were conducted for 61/3000?

The same for P-47.

Set AI to climb at continuous power would be pain, it would stretch out mission in time, especially if planes are loaded with bombs.

P-51 is cleared for 15min at mil power, same of P-47 in 15 min you can quick jump on cruise alt.

But engines can operate much longer, it will reduce expected life time, but will not lead to engine fail.

I will add even more what @Yo-Yo said, P-51 were tested at 67" and 75" in climb trials as well as P-47 and this mean that Plane was wide open from SL to 30-35k.

Anyway it would be nice so the mission creator could be able to set at what power settings AI would climb at list give 2 options mil climb and continuous climb 🙂
