Durkin
I have a friend who has no interest in flying but would love to be a gunner or bomber. Does he have to own a module to fly with me in the front seat or in a gunner position?
doedkoett
Unfortunately yes. But maybe after 14 days of trial he will find the expense worthwhile?
Funkysak
Or you could be a good friend and buy him the module as a gift. Tis the season. 9 "Now how do I land this thing?" *Sound of pages turning*
Durkin
I would by it for him if I thought he would play more that a couple times. I will wait and then have him do the 14 day trial after I’m good enough to make it fun for him.
hannibal
SUPPORT ED. your friend should just buy it. you dont hear battlefield 2042 ppl asking to be just "ONLY" gunners in the game. lol if its that expensive, your friend should wait a few years till it is on sale. or be a good friend and purchase a copy for him! kgillers3
Just start a go fund me and post it here In reality I agree maybe your friend won’t like it, but y’all can play for a bit with the trial so there’s that
Remco
Flightsimming is an expensive hobby, make sure your friend is able to invest into it if he likes it might be beneficial. I've had bad experiences trying to get my friends into DCS by buying them a module.
kgillers3
For clarity I was joking about the go fund me. I’m just in the wait phase of hurry up and wait and bored
Hummingbird
Get to know the aircraft well yourself first, that way you can quickly boil down the basics for him (like what keys to map etc.), and then have him get the 14 day trial. Best way IMHO.
CallsignLord
If your friend is new he gets 50% off his first module. just saying. Edited November 24, 2021 by CallsignLord

He may need a Head tracker/VR to effectively point the gun. And I personally think the front seat is even more complex than flying. The trial option is definitely the way to go, I guess. I'd do what I call the 'cinema test': if you play with him for longer than cinema tickets for the same time (assume 2.5 hours per movie) would cost, you break even. Where I live (Switzerland) that boils down to 10$ per hour, so if you play for 5 hours, you got your money's worth. Since you can play it for free in the first couple of days, I guess you'd pretty much know after the free-to-play period of 14 days is over. Anyway, and only IMHO, if you played for less than 5 hours within 14 days, don't bother. Edited November 23, 2021 by cfrag
