DCS Manuals In General

One thing I find odd about DCS is the aircraft are modeled based on their real life counter parts as close as possible. Why wouldn't the Pilot manuals modeled the same way?

A WWII pilot would have had a pilot manual as it was formatted back in that era. If you're gonna simulate the aircraft, why not simulate the manual to make the experience more immersive?

As a professional Tech Writer, this stuff is a glaring issue to me...

These are game module manuals mixing a real thing with how it is modeled, and what can be done with it. You can still use real manuals if you have one. It would be redundant and wrong to just copy it.

What I find the most perplexing and unintuitive about DCS manuals is that the manual for module X is in folder X, the manual for module Y is in folder Y and there is no single point of access like it's done with, say, liveries. I had to make a single folder with shortcuts to all the manuals (and Chuck's guides as well) because I really don't feel like crawling through half the file system. Really doesn't look like a whole lot of effort for ED to implement.

If I understand you correctly the closest thing to that would be the MiG-19 manual with typewriter font and authentic Russian cover 😙👌

I agree. I think the manual file location is a by-product of how ED gives you the info based on the modules you own rather than a manual for every module available. They seemed to choose the lesser of all evils for practical reasons.
