Rough sea without the need of too strong wind

Currently the realtion between wind and roughness of sea seems a bit unrealistig. espacially on marianas, I dont expect the ocean to be as quite as a lake, just because I don't setup a storm.

Maybe it would be greate to just separate both options, or better, to have a minimum roughness for the see depending on the wind, but being able to make maximum roughness, with moderate wind.

Sea states are affected by many factors, not just winds.  Some long rolling swells in deep water would add some more realism to the water conditions.

Agree 100%. We shouldn’t have to put in a 40 knot wind to get a rough sea. Often times my carrier is completely static in these cases because I don’t want an unrealistic 50 to 60 knot wind component during my cat shots and landings.

Actually, sometimes it is.  The Pacific is so named for a reason, I've done many crossings in glassy conditions (and a few in rougher states).

Point is, both calm and rough conditions are realistic, and we should be able to specify in the ME, just like the atmospheric conditions.

As this is a simulator, best if it's kept as close to reality, plenty of material out there to check and verify between what it looks like IRL vs DCS. Has the OP tried the values below, are they different looking? Genuinely interested.

Sea state is predominately based off surface wind speed. Swell is separate and probably not really needed for DCS. I have been rightly corrected that swell is important for deck operations.

Swell modelling is absolutely needed for realistic carrier deck movement.  Whitecaps for window dressing, swell for pitching and rolling decks.

Valid point, don't disagree. I fly mostly warbirds so didn't really think of that.

But for reference sea state isn't just whitecaps, it can be thought of as locally generated swell once the winds are really strong, aka it will affect a ships deck just the same as swell.

Ideally both should be modelled as close to reality, based on real world values entered into the editor.

Fully aware, been at sea for 21 years now.
