I've spoken with a few mac users who beta tested or are running BS under bootcamp in Mac computers.

I've been playing black shark and Lockon on my new macbook pro 2.8 GHZ 4GB ram and 512 Nvidia 9600GT graphics card.

The game runs like a dream and I'm super thrilled about that. Although with black shark the screen randomly goes black and after about 5 seconds the sound hangs and i'm in a total freeze. It's happened a few times with Lock On, but not nearly as much or as often than Black Shark.

I'm thinking it could be a heat issue with all the 3D renderings playing the Shark and having a 6DOF cockpit.

Any other mac users know anything about this. I've read on the net it could be an XP issue, but doesn't really say how to solve it.

I'm trying various settings now (lower resolution etc) to see if it makes a difference.

Yo,

I tried to get IL-2:1946 running on a macbook pro running boot camp. It was so unstable that I eventually gave up all together. For a while it did appear to be running smoothly, but I never really got a chance to really try it out. Somewhere between TrackIR, X-52 pro drivers and running an external monitor, bootcamp became very, very unstable and was never able to recover, even just to run excel or to surf the net it would crash. So, I gave up and haven't been back. Maybe not the advice you were looking for, but that is my experience with gaming on macs with boot camp....

Hmm, hopefully they can sort it out. I seemed to have fixed the problem by lowering the resolution and setting up a fan that blows directly on the laptop to keep it cool. I also elevate the macbook pro to allow more circultion.

No more black screens of death which is nice...but hopefully they can fix this issue.

Yes unibody. :)

Thanks guys!

hey, I just registered on this forum to ask the exact same thing!!

I have the very same problem, both with lock on and BS. After a while, the computer freezes, infinite sound loop for ~5 seconds, and then restart.

Thinking it could be a temperature issue, I raised the macbook from the desk, and put a big fan right next to it. This didn't solve anything as the issue is still present, and to me, it doesn't seem temperature related as I have it happening even at low temps. I actually noticed it happens when I'm close to enemy units.

I don't have any problem with ANY other game except Lomac and BS (same 3d engine).

I'm running a macbook pro 17" (two years old, not unibody). 2gb RAM, Ati X1600 with 256mb and intel core 2 duo at 2.33 Ghz.
