Invisibull
Hi Guys, Was just wondering what the purpose of having 5 numbered ECM buttons is. Does each cover a certain range of frequencies? Is there any advantage to not energizing all of their corresponding modules? Any info would be much appreciated. I'm not an expert by any means so I can only guess this is for selective jamming of some frequencies while leaving others alone. Say, you are operating against a SAM site and want to jam only the frequency of the radar at that site while not interfering with radars of friendly fighters (including your own probably). This is because different radars operate with different wavelength due to their intended function, capabilities, physical dimensions requirements etc. In theory it is possible to jam all the things but it's going to take so many different antennae and so much power it's not funny any more, so jammers tend to be specialised just like radars. Bricux
I brought up this topic in another section. In general, different bands are for different radar bands (types eg. AA, AG). But I guess this is for future usage when electrical warfare comes up to DCS. Now we're starting with ECM POD and first band activated, so I guess that now only first band is functional. Badlego
When the pod is jamming a Radar you can always See all Channels active so i guess it does not matter in the actual Implementation of ECM. But i would like to know if the pod has more power on the channels when fewer are on. Why would a pilot only activate some of the Channels? Frederf
Because someone is always listening. Every EW transmission is more info for the enemy to develop a countermeasure. Plus you might have negative effects on friends.
