21 January 2022

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

We have made tremendous progress on the AH-64D. Release ready items include the external model and internal cockpit models, pilot and gunner high resolution models,  external and internal lighting and sounds, IHADS , MPD pages, PNVS, TADS and sensors, 30mm cannon, Hydra unguided rockets, laser-guided Hellfire missiles, the ASE, CMWS, George AI pilot and phase one of the DM.

Despite suffering from the most recent variant of COVID-19 the team has accomplished a minor miracle and the Early Access is very close to being available for release. However, certain aspects still require extra polish notably; flight control system heading, attitude and altitude hold modes, MultiCrew, cold start, George AI co-pilot gunner, certain crew animations and system damage effects.

We understand that our decision to delay the early access release is frustrating and disappointing. Please accept our apologies. Our commitment is to deliver this exciting new aircraft to you in the nearest future, hopefully in February. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please remember that the 30% discount and extra ED Miles are still available all the way up to Early Access release.

The DCS Lunar Sale 2022 starts today and lasts until the 7th of February at 15:00 GMT on our E-Store. Click here to check out some of the exciting 50% savings across the majority of our products.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

In order to polish the aforementioned outstanding items, we require more development time into the 1st quarter of the year. We fully appreciate how eager you are to jump into your AH-64D cockpits and we apologise for this added waiting time. We are committed to a quality product at release and kindly assure you it is worth the wait.

Please take a look at the AH-64D Status video

Development Progress

Hero 2.png

We have prepared In Development Screenshots of the recent improvements being made to the pilot model, helmet and gestures. Since the last progress update we have reviewed the overall shape based on a real service helmet - it is quite the piece of kit. We are also working on gesture animations for both the Pilot and Co-Pilot Gunner.

The combat uniform of the aircrew is nearing completion and we look forward to presenting you with two camouflage options. The first is a universal early  period camouflage pattern, based on or around the 2005 spec. The pilots' equipment will include a bulletproof vest, an unloading vest, a pouch with a first aid kit, an M4 mag pouch, belts, and a radio. The texture of the helmet is made in such a way that you can draw your individual skins, stickers, attach patches and country flags.

Final work on the liveries are available here. We look forward to your feedback.

FLIR

Development Progress

Hero2.png

For air, land, and sea units and terrain objects, we are developing special thermal textures with several channels that allow heat signatures to adjust based on the activity of the unit, time of day, ambient air temperature, and more. For example, when the engine is started, the engine compartment and exhaust system begin to heat up. After driving, the undercarriage, transmission, wheels and tracks also heat up. Guns and launchers also cool down smoothly with inactivity.

This will be implemented for modules that use modern FLIR sensors, such as the AH-64D, F-16C, A-10C, and F/A-18C.

Mi-24P Hind

Development Progress

Hero2.png

Because much of our Mi-24P team has been assisting with the AH-64D project, you may have noticed that updates have been slim recently. Nevertheless, we do have good progress in the weapons department. Work on the rear gunner cabin is finished, and we are working on the gunner model itself and AI behaviour. The rear cabin will contain a Kord 12.7 mm heavy machine gun that you may have tried in DCS: Mi-8MTV2.

Apart from rear gunner position, we are making good progress on integration of the R-60 air-to-air missile. The design of the cockpit panel and functionality aspects of this missile is almost feature complete. We are planning to make this missile available before remodeling IR-missile guidance in DCS.

In the avionics systems department, we have finished work on "Greben" course navigation system code refactoring. We have also worked on the magnetic adjustment capabilities of the KM-2 panel in the front cockpit.

B-1B Lancer

Development Progress

Hero3.png

First envisioned in the 1960s as a platform to combine Mach 2 speeds with the payload of a B-52H Stratofortress, the B-1B has supported U.S. and NATO military forces in Afghanistan and Iraq since the early 1990s.

For the B-1B Lancer, a 3D model of The Lockheed Martin Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) AN/AAQ-33 was added. We have started animating the B-1B elements. You can see some elements in Development Screenshots.

We are also working on updating many other AI-aircraft models to 2022 DCS standards and look forward to sharing progress with you soon.

11 February 2022

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

VKB is preparing their new WWII lineup of controllers, which look very promising for DCS. It includes a radically revised KG12 grip and a brand new throttle lever head. The new version of the legendary KG12 grip is not a mere facelift of the grip that brought VKB's Gladiator joysticks to fame, but is a deeply re-imagined model that looks and feels richer with a more versatile set of functions for DCS warbirds.

The new implementation of infrared (IR) thermal imaging in DCS is progressing well. The technology is based on a number of physical principles within the nature of thermal radiation and absorption. Please read the details below.

As we continue to improve DCS core and update existing 3D models; we are keen to share the progress being made on the S-3B Viking. Please see our Development Screenshots.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics Team

VKB Sim

WWII Hardware

Hero1.png

A matching throttle lever and grip based on authentic designs of certain WWII German aircraft. It complements the KG12 and offers an unprecedented immersive experience when flying piston warbirds with the tactile ergonomics of that era. The new throttle lever and grip will be mounted on VKB's highly popular THQ throttle quadrants, part of the Gladiator NXT modular flight control system. Available soon.

FLIR

Development Progress

Hero2.png

Our new FLIR technology is progressing well. It takes into account how various terrain elements are rendered in the IR spectrum. This includes large masses of water, vegetation, asphalt and concrete that have high thermal retention capacities. These gradually heat up and cool down at different rates depending on the color and material. This leads to bodies of water and forests looking cooler during the day and at night time seeming warmer.

Houses, buildings, runways and many other man-made structures often look warmer at night as they have absorbed heat during the day and are clearly visible in the IR spectrum. In addition to the dynamic nature of all vehicles and changing heat signatures, which are dependent on their movement, we will continue to tune the terrains, associated map objects and vehicles to bring you these enhancements in time for the DCS: AH-64D Early Access launch. We are confident that the new FLIR technology will be available across all compatible sensors deployed in DCS.

S-3B Viking

Development Progress

Hero3.png

The S-3B Viking is a carrier-based, subsonic, all-weather, long-range, multi-mission aircraft that carries automated weapon systems. It is also capable of extended missions with aerial refueling. The Viking was originally used by the U.S Navy for anti-submarine warfare, but it has also provided electronic warfare and surface surveillance for large battle groups.

The S-3B variant features upgraded avionics: the AN/APS-137 inverse synthetic aperture radar, Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, and AGM-84 Harpoon launch capabilities. The aircraft has two underwing hardpoints for fuel tanks, cluster bombs, missiles, rockets, and storage pods. It also has four internal bomb bay stations that can be used to carry general-purpose bombs and special stores.

We hope that this progress report was to your satisfaction and we patiently await your feedback.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

We continue working on bug fixing and enhancements for our piston-engined aircraft. Recently, we have resolved a long standing issue that caused engine cut outs after long flights. This issue was most notable on the D-9 Dora and has now been resolved.

The next step to improving the flight dynamics of DCS: Yak-52 are underway. Please keep a look out for the next Open Beta update to see these improvements and many other bug fixes.

DCS: Supercarrier is making steady progress on the functionality of the Briefing room. The work on the Greenie board is finished and relays the actual information from the LSO station to provide live updates during the mission. Development Screenshots.

We are happy to inform you that DCS: AH-64D has now entered Closed Beta Testing, this means that we are confidently moving closer to Early Access release. The initial feedback from the team is excellent and extremely appreciated, read more. We are also keen to share our progress on the Advanced Infrared Countermeasure Munition (AIRCMM). In addition, if you have not already checked this out, please take a look at Matt Wagner's latest video from the AH-64D tutorial series: DCS: AH-64D | Gun

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Yak-52

Flight Dynamics

Hero1.png

As a result of the Flight Model enhancements, the aircraft will have more realistic take-off behaviour and better performance in inverted aerobatic manoeuvres. We understand that some of you have been waiting for these improvements a while and we thank you for your patience. Going forward we will address other tasks that need to be completed before moving DCS: Yak-52 out of Early Access. We very much look forward to your feedback in the next Open Beta update.

WWII Engines

Development Progress

Hero2.png

During the last few weeks, we have located and fixed a long standing and very tricky bug when the engine would suddenly stop after a long duration flight. As we can see the bug affected many warbirds but was mostly noticed on Fw 190D-9 Dora. We plan to include this fix in the next update.

Supercarrier

Development Progress

Hero3.png

The work is essentially finished on the Greenie board that is connected to the actual LSO station data, which provides live updates during the mission.

We are currently working on the functionality of crew tablets where you will be able to see mission briefings as well as check and change loadouts. In addition, the briefing officer can control the projected picture that is visible on the main screen and choose what to show on the auxiliary TV screen located above his head.

AH-64D Flares

Development Progress

Hero4.png

We are pleased to share our progress on the M206 IR Decoy Flares that provide protection against air-to-air and surface-to-air infrared weapon systems. The Advanced Infrared Countermeasure Munition (AIRCMM) consists of the M211 Flares and supplements the M206 Aircraft Countermeasure Flares. The M211 Flares are specifically designed for low flying, slow moving rotary aircraft.

To make sure you have not missed out, check Matt Wagner’s latest videos in the AH-64D Tutorial Series and get stuck into DCS: AH-64D | TADS Part II.

WWII Marianas
Development Progress

Hero1.png

Except for the presence of a naval administration on the island, pre-war Guam was basically a land of farmers and fishermen living a simple and peaceful life. The US territory of Guam and the Northern Islands, which are part of the Japanese World War I mandate, will be included in the initial Early Access release.

A number of Japanese settlements and local Chamorros regions, as well as agricultural pastures, predominantly sugar cane fields, are visible in the Development Screenshots.

The task of creating this map to match the visual quality and accuracy of the modern Marianas map includes new texturing to most of the land masses and creating countless new objects. It is a large task that is making steady progress and we look towards your comments.

Syria
Development Report

Hero2.png

In the coming Open Beta update, the DCS: Syria map size will increase eastward by 250 km to Deir ez-Zor airbase in Syria. A large section of the Euphrates River Valley in the eastern part of the map will be included, as well as parts of western Iraq to include H3, H3 Northwest, H3 Southwest and Ruwayshid airbases. You can also look forward to the Ataturk Dam and Şanlıurfa International Airport in Turkey.

Also be on the lookout for the abandoned dirt airfield east of Sayqal AirBase and Tal Siman military base located to the north of the city of Raqqa. The Kharab Ishk helicopter base, located on the territory of the Lafarge factory, At-Tanf military base on Syrian-Iraqi border, and the oil facilities in Deir ez-Zor area are also included.

The focus on the map update is to better support historic AH-64D missions during the war on ISIS.

This will be a free update to DCS: Syria

AI Voice System

Development Progress

Hero2.png

We are working on a voice system for our AI copilots: DCS: Mi-24P Hind - Petrovich and DCS: AH-64D - George. We expect this system to react to certain player commands while also automatically spotting and reporting targets. We also intend to have a variety of different “attitude states” for the virtual AI pilots with corresponding voice lines for the same events.

Please check out Matt Wagner’s tutorial on DCS: AH-64D | Crew AI.

Black Shark Den

Multiplayer Server

Hero3.png

Black Shark Den is a group of DCS helicopter pilots that run a mix of Lift, Reconnaissance, and Attack missions that are cooperative, realistic and engaging. The server runs DCS Open Beta, and it supports three dedicated servers in both the US and EU time zones.

The SMEs on these servers are all former or active pilots of UH-60, AH-64, OH-58D, Huey, Wildcat and Sea King aircraft from the UK, the US Army and US Navy. Crew chiefs and civilian pilots from oil platform operations with the EC145 and other helicopters. It is a wealth of knowledge and fun.

New arrivals begin at the RL3 level and earn their ranks by an evaluation process based on real world military helicopter training. For those that wish to participate in more complex missions that include planning and flight leadership, you may go on to milsim level.

Mi-24P Hind

Development Progress

Hero1.png

One of the new features coming in the next Mi-24P update is the KM-2 magnetic declination adjustment system. With it, the Co-Pilot Gunner (CP/G) will have to dial magnetic variation into the KM-2 to get the true heading on the RMI. When the CP/G is Petrovich AI, he will automatically adjust it as soon as the course system "Greben" is switched on or if you start from a “hot” aircraft.

A number of new keybinds have been added for all radios and some conflicts have been resolved. Separate keybindings for the CP/G weapons selector were also added.

We have resolved several more frustrating bugs like the ATGM ‘SCHO’ selector panel between Multi Crew players desync and the rockets side selector bug. We addressed the Heading Autopilot channel bug that prevented the Heading AP channel from switching to idle and back to heading hold mode. We are currently refactoring the pedals trim system and pedals microswitches system.

In the next development report, we will bring you the completed implementation of the R-60 air-to-air missile for DCS: Mi-24P Hind

AH-64D

Livery Competition

Hero2.png

Using the official texture template found here, we are holding an AH-64D livery contest. The top ten submissions will have their work featured as an official AH-64D livery and will receive an Eagle Dynamics module of your choice.

Here are some of the requirements and details:

  • The livery must be created using this template.
  • The livery must be based on current or historic schemes from any AH-64 variant.
  • The livery must be associated with one of the countries currently present in DCS.

Here are instructions for saving textures with MIP levels using NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop.

After submitting your file to User Files, please enter the AH-64D Livery Competition forum topic with a screenshot and link to your file.

The contest will run until the 29th of May. All ten winners will receive a free copy of DCS: AH-64D, or any other Eagle Dynamics module, that can be also given as a gift to any DCS account.

F-14B Operation Sandworm

Campaign by Sandman Simulations

Hero3.png

The date is 1998 and tensions in the Persian Gulf are growing rapidly. Human rights violations, brutal military crackdowns on rallies and the executions of political prisoners has led to U.S and EU sanctions against Iran.

In response, Iran has been conducting regular violations of the airspace of neighboring countries and obstructing international shipping through the Strait. Despite attempts made to resolve the problems diplomatically, the world understands that the situation could get out of control at any moment.

To prevent a direct military conflict, the 9th Aviation Wing of the U.S Navy is being sent to the region. Look out for DCS: F-14B Operation Sandworm Campaign by Sandman Simulations coming soon.

Supercarrier

Development Report

Hero1.png

An important and challenging feature of DCS: Supercarrier has been the development of night operations. Over the past year, we have been working on several aspects that will soon be released to Open Beta. These include new deck crew animations that utilize the new skeletal animation system, new animations that are specific to night operations and the inclusion of light wands. This will make deck operations at night much easier and more realistic.

For the aircraft, deck crew and objects on the “roof” at night, we have improved lighting and shadows based on the deck and tower lights. We continue working on this feature to enhance performance and frame rates. Please note that deck shadows will be an option that you will need to switch on in the graphic options.

On final approach, you’ll now need to contend with the “burble” effect. This disturbed air flow coming off the back of the carrier results in a brief partial loss of lift as you close in. This can make things much more of a challenge if you are unprepared. We continue to tweak this effect and you can expect the first iteration shortly.

F-14 Tomcat

Development Report

Hero2.png

Recently, DCS: F-14 Tomcat received an impressive update and overhaul to the autopilot and associated aircraft control systems. This has been a massive undertaking and will have a significant impact on your flying. Our aim is to provide you with the system as it would function “under the hood” in the real aircraft. This will generate the same effects that the real F-14 Autopilot would exhibit in varying flight conditions.

The Tomcat’s development continues with improvement of various systems and the addition of some final features currently missing from the module. This all means the Tomcat will more accurately reflect the functionality and limitations of the real aircraft. If you missed it, please read more here.

The friendly versus hostile unit identification system includes realistic limitations that real operators must contend with before pulling the trigger. This system will be applied to both the George AI for DCS: AH-64D and Petrovich AI for DCS: Mi-24P Hind.

This system will include customizable identification modes that mission creators can use. For the most simple mode, the AI will instantly know if the target is friendly or hostile. In the most sophisticated mode, identification will depend on distance, lighting, angular size, aspect, and the presence of the vehicles in a coalition. The system will also have default settings that are tuned according to the mission's F10 map and label settings.

Ka-50 Black Shark III

Development Progress

Hero2.png

The Inertial Navigation System (INS) is based on dead reckoning by a double integration of aircraft accelerations that are measured by the accelerometers located on a gyro-stabilized platform. The fundamental property of the INS is the accumulation of coordinate measurement errors over time (platform alignment errors and accelerometer errors are also integrated twice). With the use of INS mathematical models, we have achieved a realistic error accumulation effect, as well as a physical alignment of the gyro-stabilized platform when the helicopter is started.

As a result, the INS-derived location can only be determined with limited accuracy. The error in the calculation of coordinates accumulates at the rate of several kilometers per hour and when starting the INS, it will be necessary that the helicopter remains stationary throughout the alignment procedure. Otherwise, a less accurate alignment will lead to an accelerated accumulation of errors. Three different alignment options will be available: “fast” allows you to take off rapidly but it provides low-accuracy during the flight; “normal” and “precise” provide better accuracy with greater alignment times.

When using INS for long flights, correction/fix taking points will be available. Prominent reference points on the ground with known coordinates make it possible to eliminate accumulated errors in two ways: by flying over the landmark, or by using “Shkval” tracking of the reference point located away from the route. Thus, navigation in Ka-50 will become more realistic with the simulation of INS errors that are present in real life.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

It is with pleasure that we give all owners of DCS: F/A-18C Hornet and DCS: F-14 Tomcat some inspiring new liveries now available in the latest Open Beta. We are excited to see what you will use them for!

As we continue work on the Hornet roadmap, we are adding the AIM-7P air-to-air radar-guided missile. This is a similar missile to the AIM-7M but with an increased blast fragmentation warhead from 39 kg to 40 kg. We are also working on the ADM-141A Tactical Air Launched Decoy (TALD), and we encourage you to stay tuned for the next update.

The DCS: F-14 Tomcat is now available as part of the Maverick Legacy Bundle. This weekend only, you can land a valuable 35% saving. Please note that this offer ends on the 29th of May at 15:00 GMT.  Another “Be the Maverick” bundle is also available and combines DCS: Supercarrier with DCS: F/A-18C Hornet with 30% savings.

F/A-18C Hornet

Development Progress

Hero2.png

We are working on the next update for the Hornet and are happy to announce that the AIM-7P and ADM-141 TALD will be released in the next Open Beta update. We are currently finalizing sparks when firing the gun at night, and have crushed many of the multiplayer mission bugs which were apparent when several Supercarriers are in the mission.

AIM-7P

The AIM-7P is similar in most ways to the M versions. It was primarily an upgrade program. The main changes were to the software and improving low-level performance. A follow-on Block II upgrade added a new rear receiver that allowed the missile to receive mid-course corrections from the launching aircraft. Plans initially called for all M versions to be upgraded, but currently P's are being issued as required.

Hero3.png

ADM-141A TALD

Used to help suppress Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems by distracting them with false targets. TALDs can also trick hostile radars into emitting and allowing them to be attacked by Anti-Radiation missiles. They can also be used to confuse hostile air-to-air radar operators. In the first Gulf War, hundreds were launched by A-7s and F/A-18s on the first night of the war. An additional purpose is to act as a target practice for radar-guided air-to-air missiles. In the above screenshot you can see a Hornet carrying TALDs to act as AIM-7 practice targets.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

We are happy to share our continued efforts to create the best possible FLIR image simulation. We have been working on the MFCD’s backlighting for DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer targeting pod and infrared-guided Maverick air-to-surface missile, whilst improving the default level and gain settings for the Hornet and the Viper FLIR sensors.

We have completed the R-60M air-to-air missile and the Kord machine gun installation for the DCS: Mi-24P Hind and we are now focusing on the gunner animations. Check out the details below.

Following the large update to the DCS: F-16C Viper’s available G and instantaneous turn performance, we are close to releasing the planned update to the Flight Control System (FLCS). This is another step towards bringing the Viper’s performance closer to available references and CFD modeling.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

FLIR

Development Progress

Hero1.png

Based on feedback from the community, we have tuned the FLIR image level and gain settings for both the Litening and ATFLIR targeting pods, as well as infrared-guided Maverick air-to-surface missiles. The next main task is to complete infrared textures for all ships and aircraft. This will include FLIR effect improvements to explosions, smoke, and dust.

Mi-24P Hind

Development Progress

Hero2.png

A new weapon for the Hind is the R-60M missile that will be available with the next Open Beta update. In order to use it, you will need to tick the "R-60 equipment" box in the helicopter slot in the Mission Editor, it is active by default. This will place additional equipment in the cockpit, which is used to engage and prepare missiles for launch. In reality, this equipment and its wiring is installed within 3 hours.

Hero2a.png

The APU-60-I and APU-60-II missile launchers are placed on the outer weapon rack pylons, and they can accommodate one or two missiles per launcher respectively. After the missile's power is engaged, warm-up will take 1 minute before it can be used. The pylon selector on the same panel will choose the missile launcher, and after the missile launcher is switched on, it will take an additional 10 seconds for the missile's gyros to spin-up. The R-60 missiles use the Peltier effect, which is also called thermoelectric cooling. It transfers heat from one side of the device to the other and does not use any additional consumables to cool the seeker.

The pilot uses the ASP-17V aiming sight's inner circle to aim and obtain a missile tone for launch. If the missile locks a target, its seeker is uncaged automatically and tracks the target within the seeker’s capabilities. If target lock is lost, the seeker is re-caged automatically. It is worth mentioning that the missile was used against ground targets as well and we are planning to add this capability later within DCS overall.

The Kord heavy machine gun and gunner are also being prepared for DCS: Mi-24P Hind. The new 3D character model and animations are nearing completion, and we are planning to release it in one of the upcoming updates. You will be able to mount the machine gun on the right or left side of the helicopter and it will have the same features as DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight and DCS: UH-1H Huey gunners.

F-16C Viper

Development Progress

Hero3.png

New DCS: F-16C Viper Flight Control System (FLCS) improvements include; increased negative G capabilities, a smooth transition between flight and landing gear down modes, improved roll rate logic, greater rudder authority that allows knife-edge passes, eliminated yaw instability when low and very fast, as well as a reduced “G Bucket” effects when at high G and decelerating through Mach.

The Viper will have the ability to sustain 9.3 G when the energy state allows and the FLCS gains in landing and aerial refueling modes are also being updated. Additionally, improved stability when firing the gun, and greater negative G will be available when using Manual Pitch Override (MPO). Stay tuned for these updates, coming soon.

Thank you again for your passion and support,

10 June 2022

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,:pilotfly:

This week we released DCS 2.7.15.25026 to Open Beta with many new enhancements and fixes that can be viewed in the full change log. Most notably, we are pleased to announce that DCS: South Atlantic map is now available. To provide time to adequately test, the South Atlantic Assets Pack will be delivered in an upcoming Open Beta update.

The South Atlantic map encompasses parts of the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern oceans. Covering southern Argentina and Chile, the map also includes a recreation of the Falkland/Malvinas Islands. Watch the launch trailer.

We are also pleased to provide you with a free updated external model of the CVN-74 John C. Stennis. This is an initial step in improving the free Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

Thank you for your passion and support.

DCS: South Atlantic

Available now in Open Beta

Hero1.png

The RAZBAM Terrain Development Team is proud to present the South Atlantic map that is a beautiful and majestic combination of Argentina, Chile, and the Falkland/Malvinas Islands. The topography of the region includes the beautifully rugged mountains of Chile, the vast and colorful Patagonian plains of Argentina, and the windswept islands of West and East Falklands/Malvinas. Covering an area of 3.1 million square kilometres, the team’s goal has been to give the DCS community the opportunity to develop missions that reflect the scale and complexity of modern-day operations in this scenic region.

Hero1a.png

When developing this map, the team was proactive in listening to the DCS community regarding both scale and requirements of modern-day military operations. This provides the best possible experience and leverages land-class textures drawn from aerial and satellite photography.

Hero1b.png

Development of the South Atlantic map will continue, and the team is now moving their focus from the Falkland/Malvinas Islands to mainland Argentina and Chile. They will flesh out the rural areas of the map to provide a more authentic and lived-in look.  This will include adding additional buildings, infrastructure, and tidying up vector data (like mountains). Our community's input pushed for the inclusion of mainland and the team dedicated to make it even better.

Hero1c.png

Moving forward, additional airfields will be added throughout the map to provide a diversified area of Naval and Fighter operations. The goal is to include all airfields at a high quality level. More villages, settlements, and road infrastructure improvements will be added across the various regions.

The following items will also be further improved during the early access period:

  • Visible tiling around some airfields and at certain view angles.
  • Some angular sea cliffs
  • Forest tiling from some view angles

Hero1d.png

The DCS: South Atlantic map has undertaken a new strategy for generating terrain. Whereas all other DCS maps rely heavily on art-created ground textures combined with satellite textures, the South Atlantic map relies mostly on satellite textures. While this results in a more realistic looking map at medium to high altitudes, ground textures may appear less defined at low altitude. The team is committed to further improving the low-altitude terrain textures.

DCS: Spitfire Beware Beware Campaign by Reflected Simulations

In the winter of 1942, the raging air battle over Europe was fierce. The Focke Wulfs and Messerschmitts flown by the Luftwaffe’s ’Experten’ proved to be more than a worthy foe for the RAF’s new Spitfire Mk.IXs. Total air supremacy of the Allies was still just a distant dream, but then again the Luftwaffe was far from in control of the British skies.

At the heart of this battle stood the Biggin Hill Wing with West Lancashire and Ile de France Squadrons. Soon, you too can join the 611 Squadron at the height of the fight for air supremacy over Europe and be a fighter pilot in the RAF in the most realistic way ever possible.
