fholger VR Performance Toolkit for Oculus

Can’t see the discord link as I’m on my phone, but for install it looks like it’s the same as other fHolger vr mods. You rename the original openvr file to something else so you don’t overwrite it and then copy the files from fHolger  over to the bin folder and edit the settings.

I’ve read on guru3d that this toolkit enables use of DXVK for windows for vr. Never heard about it until now, but it’s supposed to be a layer that translates dx11 to Vulcan from what I can gather. Seems to increase or stabilise fps in some games. Wonder if there is performance to gain for DCS? I’m on the road so I can’t check.

Edit: fHolger answered this on GitHub and say d that dxvk leads to stuttering and stuff and wrote that it’s not useful. Going to try it anyways when I get back home. You never know!

Seems to work in Oculus for the Quest 2.

Installation is straight forward. Copy the 2 files into the DCS BIN folder. Adjustments to method, render scale, fixed foveated rendering etc. are made by editing the vrperfkit.yml file.

Having an AMD 6800XT card, can't comment on how well the fixed foveated rendering works, but the other effects seem to be good.

Are you using SteamVR or Oculus to run DCS?

Hi! Do you change anything on vrperfkit.yml file? I have the quest 2 too.

Compatible with anything other shaders mod?

Thanks 😉

I use FSR at 0.82, sharpness 0, radius 0.6.
Currently using the Quest link built-in sharpness & VR clear water shaders.

[Resolution in the Oculus app is max. Currently using 80Hz, set at 45 forced via the OTT.
Encode resolution is a major factor on number of pixels displayed. I have it set it maxed out at 4064.
Be warned, if you use this encode resolution IT WILL NOT work for 72Hz. Make sure you turn it back down if you want to use 72Hz or it will appear as though your Quest 2 link/PCVR capability is bricked.
Important DCS settings are currently 2xMSAA, terrain shadows off, PD 1.2. Am going to try increasing PD and turning off MSAA, but I think the jaggies & shimmers will be too unbearable.
PC: R5 5600X, 6800XT, 32GB RAM, SSDs etc etc]

I think you need to disable hotkeys in the config file.

Looks like the prelim fixed foveated rendering is in, hopefully it will be on par with mbuccia’s OpenXR toolkit soon.

EDIT: it seems FFR is for NVIDA RTX and GTX 16XX GPUs only.

According to the help text this is not possible with hotkeys, so you'll have to save your changes manually by editing the vrperfkit.yml file with Notepad++ (not Windows notepad)
