A Carrier for the Naval Phantom ?

Without interactive deck crew? The arbritrary selectiveness to which a desire for realism is applied is what I find baffling. On account of lacking interactive deck crew, a simple bridle model/animation that interacts with the present shuttle is good enough.
That is work by ED and a extension of Supercarrier, and yes, continue with proper deck crew and realistic launch operations.

As in, the Supercarrier content will be expanded to the Forrestal for those who own the Supercarrier module? With the unrealistically modern BDU pants?

No matter how it's assessed, something is going to be sacrificed in the realism department. It's unavoidable with the inconsistent timeline of DCS content as a whole and, more importantly, considering pragmatics, which seem to be particularly overlooked by fixated, linear pursuits of perfection.

I would assume HBs deck crew can be skinned over the current animation of the SC crew so HB don't have to animate from scratch.

Then do some code magic to add the crew on the deck...

But until ED finish the SDK for 3rd parties...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I’d like to have source for that order? They said that E will be first and then they will start to make other version.

That would be correct. This is what was in their FAQ - unlike the post you quoted above.

They can animate that on the plane side. Still uses a shuttle. Just have it work the same, but instead of a launch bar, show a bridle. Shouldn't be a big thing. To model an entire carrier for something that insignificant is ridiculous.

I think this might work for the short term. I'd like to see some other ships from the gulf of Tonkin yacht club or the Ark Royale first

Ok so you are saying that the A6, and the F-14A 95GR or 135GR early are being worked by some one else than the Phantom II team, or assisting with the EF, and we might as well forget about the Draken... How big is Heatblur again...how many people?

You really think that a Family of Phantom IIs full blown modules are coming in 2022?  Reality check. I say maybe F-4E by the end of 2022, one of the two versions announced already, then MYABE Q4 2023  EA of a naval Phantom, but then again what happens to the A6, the remaining F 14?

I don´t know. I really don´t want to get my hopes up. Modules take a LOT of time to be developed right AND the E is no slouch and it has a plethora of systems to get working.. I would bet you a Phantom II module that we don´t see a Naval Phantom II till 2024 at least.

I would love to be proven wrong...

I don't think anyone expects to see anything more than the E come out this year, I know I don't.  Which is why I think we should talk to HB about the gulf of Tonkin Yacht club

Yeah Naval Phantom probably will be sometime after the A-6E, which is currently last in line.

I wouldn't totally rule the Draken out either, we already know it gets @IronMikehot and bothered. And the F-4E release surprised even people that work with HB on a daily basis. Hell I sorta knew it was happening and supplied some reference pics, and had zero idea that trailer was about to drop, or that it was happening this year.

Wishing HB had done CVN-65 Enterprise instead of Forrestal. No variants to worry about (though would have enjoyed seeing hypothetical skins of America and JFK as Enterprise class).

This is an excerpt from the A-5 Vigilante NATOPS, but it should be exemplary for the J79 across the board.

Idle to Mil in 4-7 seconds (BLC off) and may increase to 10 seconds (BLC on). Average times given.

Just realized - wrong thread.

Anyway, with that throttle-response, going for a smaller boat should be doable for most people. Yay for the Midway, FDR or Coral Sea!

You already know what carrier I would like!

That's...

... one crowded deck!

I'd have thought they'd put those planes in the hangar deck underneath, protect from the salt water when not flying.... but was the ship too small for all those planes?!?!

Love to see a CVE/CVL done for WWII scearios.  Lets start with the USS San Jacinto.

My wishlist for the Pacific is enough ships to build historic task groups, with the Phantom I'd like the Gulf of Tonkin Yacht club. some period carrier classes, the New Jeresey and a mix of cruisers and destroyers to act as escorts

Don't forget the Kitty Hawks! I want my America!

Yeah, I'd vote Kitty Hawk-class for a couple reasons. First, the F-4, F-14, and A-6 all operated from them across their lifetimes. Second, while Enterprise would be cool, which version? She underwent an overhaul 1979-1982 and lost the beehive array atop the island. Unless we get both versions of her, someone is going to complain that either the F-4 Phantom or later model F-14s won't look right on her deck. The Kitty Hawks had some changes over time of course, but not quite as drastic as changed the entire profile of the ship.

That's why the Kennedy is the right and true answer. Tomcats, Intruders, Corsair IIs from 74 onwards. Updated deck design as adopted in the Nimitz class, carrier from the '89 Sidra shoot down and the strikes following the Beirut bombing. Stayed active to serve in the Global War on Terror, and was VF-103's carrier for their final Tomcat cruise in 2004.

She did have F-4Bs before the transition but we'd more likely be getting a J. Looking at the time and resources to do the whole Forrestal class it'd be unlikely they'd want to tackle another whole class, especially with the Kitty Hawk class having variations between the ships.
