TWS Question

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to figure something out regarding the TWS and the AIM-54.

So in a curtain mission there are 3 MIGs and about 8 bombers, i'am instructed to attack the bombers.
But the problem is the MIG planes are a few miles in front of the bombers to the left and the TWS in die F14 always locks up the MIG targets first 1,2,3 and then TWS target 4 is the first bomber.
 

Is there any way i can manually choose i want to start with target 4 and then work my way up to the other bombers ?

I tried doing it via the jester menu, but then it seems i get a STT track for the first bomber, but i want TWS so i can fire multiple phoenixes...

Easiest way is probably to Active pause, jump in the RIO seat, hook the one you want on the TID and press next launch button. 

 

You could also set mandatory attack on the ones you want to fire on first via the CAP panel.

 

Can't be done from pilot seat without lua editing afaik.

Or set "Do Not Attack" on the MiG TWS tracks via the CAP.

You can start with Manual TWS, ask Jester to put the antenna azimuth to the right a bit or just maneuver so that only the bombers on the right get in the cone. Start employing from there. There's a possibility that the cone will be centered in TWS Auto and the escort will get into the cone anyway for the next shots.

Kill the MiGs first, then kill the bombers with everything you have left. Since you need to get in close anyway to finish off more than 6 (if you want to get all 8), it is advisable to get the fighter thread out of the way. As I understand the instructions do not include to not kill the MiGs. In other words: do what is necessary. (I'd insert an evil grin emoji, but seems in this day and age they've been replaced with cat emojis lololol)

Agree with @IronMike, but then, how to select in TWS the contact to be sorted without STT?, imagine a couple of migs in front and in the rear the bomber, and the TWS pick up the bombers first, how to sort the MiGs in TWS?

As mentioned above, this needs to be achieved with mand attack, do not attack or next launch from the backseat. Active pause isnt necessary btw, Iceman will fly the plane for you just fine in the meantime (if far enough away).

Yes, but not in MP, honestly it should similar to the STT selection contact but with TWS, it is fundamental for Air to Air engagement to be able to perform a sorting with tws.
