Comms menu, move location on screen… semi solved

In a previous post I made (deleted it), I asked if anyone knew how to move the comms menu on the screen so it doesn’t overlap the multiplayer menus/ mission dialogue. Nobody had an answer so I stared fumbling around and here is what I’ve found:

In the CommandDialogPanel.lua ( see attached pic for full path), line 181, there is a value that is set to 0. Increasing this value will move the menu lower on the screen when you open it.

I could not figure out how to move it left though. That is what I really wanted since I use a 5120x1440 monitor and its waaaaay off to the side up in the corner.

I know exactly 0 about .lua scripting so if anyone happens to know how to make it move left instead of down that would be great!

But for the purposes of it not overlapping the multiplayer mission dialogue this seem to suffice.

Just thought this may come in handy for someone.

  • MadKreator changed the title to Comms menu, move location on screen… semi solved

Not tested but try this:

window:setBounds(screenWidth - menuWidth - 500, 0, menuWidth - 500, height)

Of course change 500 value to whatever suits you if it works. The higher value the more to the left it goes.

Well I tried that exactly how typed and that didn’t work, played around with different values and variations and couldn’t get anything to work as far as lateral movement. If I do anything other than change that one original value the menu disappears completely lol

Is this a value relating to "pixels from somewhere" or to "percentage of something"?

Up above a couple posts, the way  Draconus shows to do its will move it left instead of down. I prefer moving left because of my ultra wide monitor, but down works just as good😁

I've just started VR with the Meta 2 (Formally known as Quest 2 lol) and for me it's brilliant. Flying mainly the Mi-8 the menu was way high, using your formula brings it down to the Engineers window level between the pilots and means I no longer have to crane my neck. Thanks again.
