Nose wheel steering operation question

Hi all, enjoying MiG-29 trial, perhaps dumb question:

In MiG-29S with hot runway start, I see the nose wheel moves slightly from side to side when I press the rudder pedals. I can taxi and make some turns, but the turns feel very wide (hard to make U-turns on the full width of the apron without running into the grass).

There is a command in controls for nose wheel steering. When I press this or hold this, the steering behavior doesn't seem to change in any way. Don't see any panel lights change. Tried with rudder, or moving stick side to side.

What is the procedure to correctly enable or disable  NWS, and is it possible to make tight turns?

NWS/Lock button works only with Flaps up. so Flaps up, hold and it will turn well

All the people keep asking for capabilities to be modelled.... I want the limitations to be modelled.... limitations make for realistic simulation.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a bit you realize the pig likes it.

Yea no need to bind NWS button, just use lock button...

Edit: I was mistaken about what I wrote below. I double checked and all variants use the “lock” button. Senility struck again.

Depends on the variant you're flying. What you say is true of the "S" but not the "A". I never fly the "G", so I don't know how that one works. In the MiG-29A, you need the NWS key.

It’s worked for me in the A? Or is just when flaps are up? I’ll try again, but there is a way in the A. Either flaps you or flaps up + lock button. Never flown the G variant

No. You're right. I checked the "A" and the "G" and the lock button works for both as well as the "S". I could have sworn it didn't work for the "A". Senility stikes again.

For what it’s worth, I’m only 28 and I was flailing around for a good week wondering why it didn’t work until I saw a post mentioning the flaps needed to be up🤣

Why the flaps must be up? I did not find anything about that in manual

It’s just how MiG programmed it so you couldn’t accidentally use it while taking off or landing. It’s in the real manual
