Woodstock
Someone asked for basic resources. http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/ If those have been posted before, sorry for not finding and bumping the thread! Currently most interesting: Helicopter Flying http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aircraft/media/faa-h-8083-21.pdf "For aviators like us, the sky is not the limit - it's our home!" RvETito
Last month I led a PPL (H) course in a college here and for the Principles of flight subject I used exactly this book. Good choice for getting started and basic undertsading of helicopter dynamics. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Draco
While not free... the Principles of Helicopter Flight(Second Edition) by W.J. Wagtendonk along with The FAA book listed above have been great sources for me in my helicopter training. The first being a bit thicker and more technical than the FAA version is still a good source of helicopter concepts from vortex ring state to effective translational lift. My first instructor told me it would be to abstract for me. so of course it was the one i went with.
