upyr1 Posted March 11, 2022 Share Posted March 11, 2022 Naval task forces in World War II operated in smaller task groups, when we start getting ships for the Pacific theater, I would love to at least see some templates if not an overhaul of the ship menu to place task groups on the map. I got the following image from here The page talks about the composition of task groups the going from the outside in the first ring would be submarines, the second ring destroyers then the third rings light cruiser / destroyer divisions then finally the inner circle would be the capital and/or merchant ships being escorted. The current templates would be fine for a formation with fixed ships, the make up of a task group could vary depending on what was available. I would like ships to have have formations and a follow command so that we could build groups made up of multiple formations. Though ideally I would love to have some way to build a World War II ship formation like this based on what is in a group or an order of battle list. It would awesome to have a campaign trying to take a formation out.
