You mean the Stable update?  I would do a full on re-run through all of the steps for OpenXR installation on page 1.  I think quite a bit has changed with OXR since the last stable update.

Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x

Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600

I don't know why, but the open composite tool was the problem. When I downloaded the .dll file and put it into the DCS folder, it works fine as of late last night. So if anyone else has trouble with the open composite tool....this helped.

Hey guys,

I read and reread the instructions and followed them to a T as best as I could and I still get the following error upon launching the game:

I am using a 1070GTX and a Reverb G2, I have never had an issue like this since I used this mod. new install of windows and updated windows as can be at this point in time.. It works fine when running SteamVR? I have no issues with any VR game I own and the headset is working fine. not sure what else to add as I have read and reread the instructions and did a clean install twice and removed the shaders folders.. not sure what else to try.

I have went back and redownloaded the opencomposite.exe and ran it I saw it DL the Dll's like it is supposed to and I have made DCS to run in OpenComposite like the directions said too.

Did you start with the pixel density set at 1.0?

Do you have this file installed - https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe ?

Have you installed open composite on your Desktop (Aka not inside the Program Files folder)

Are the permissions set correctly?

Have you tried the 'per-app' install where you drag files into the bin folder instead of the systemwide install

-32 typically means a missing dependency DLL. I suggest you download this dependencies visualizer tool: https://github.com/lucasg/Dependencies/releases/download/v1.11.1/Dependencies_x64_Release.zip

Then open the openvr_api.dll with DependenciesGui.exe, and look for one or more DLL marked red with errors.

Hopefully the issue will be apparent.

well I did not see any red errors so I guess this is a bit more elusive.. any other suggestions? I am about to nuke the system from orbit and start over..

I just realized that if you are getting the dialogbox, the error is downstream of openvr_api.dll. Are you using any OpenXR API layers mods, like OpenXR Toolkit, XRNeckSafer, OpenKneeboard or OpenXR-MotionCompensation? If so you should try disabling them. If one of them is the cause then do the DependenciesGui thing on that one.

Can anyone assist with the following error?  OpenXR is running great, followed all the requirements per the guide suggested install.  Used Skatezilla for clean -up/repair.  Using PimaxXR for the PIMAX VR head set I have.  Game runs a lot better now.  Only problem is, when I try to run OBS so I can record, I get the below error.  Any help would greatly be appreciated so I can start recording again.  OBS just shuts down after this error.

AFAIK there is just no support for OBS with OpenComposite.

OK I did have OpenXR Toolkit instaalled so that might have been an issue. I just ended up Nwipe the drives and reinstalled Win10 and all is working know again.. thank you.. maybe it was just a corrupt win install..

OBS records from SteamVR, not WMR. Wish there was a fix for that myself as I would love to start streaming in VR but until its better optimized...

Anyone knows why DCS would suddenly stop recognizing OpenComposite? Yesterday it was fine, today it only wanted to start in SteamVR, and when I got rid of it, it simply stopped recognizing the headset. I didn't mess with any settings, the only thing I've done was accidentally start in SteamVR mode once yesterday (switched it back to OpenComposite and it worked then).

I'm on Steam, if that helps. It's quite possible something got updated without my knowledge. I did check for D3DComplier_47.dll, and it wasn't restored.

Nevermind, fixed itself on the next PC start.

Anyone here run into this error when trying to use an 8KX with OpenBeta? I did a file repair in case there was something I had modded that I missed but still getting this. When running under SteamVR everything works fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So I did discover you can record using OBS if you record from adding a display capture or game capture.  It seems that the openvr plugin for OBS is the one that is effected.  This is frustrating because the openvr plugin actually makes the VR recording 100x better than recording the desktop monitor.  It actually records what you see in helmet.  Going to mess with this more, but I am determined there has to be a way since OBS is recording in some fashion.

If anyone has discovered a way to record using OBS and the openvr plugin, please let me know.

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I am new to VR and OpenXR and this thread has 100 pages now.

Is it possible to view Desktop apps (like Chrome or Discord) while flying in DCS using OpenXR? I have read that there are apps like OVR Toolkit that can do it when using SteamVR. But is there such a solution when not using SteamVR?

It might be possible via WMRP, it would mean picking up the controller and taking focus from DCS though.  No idea if it's possible to display in the headset as an overlay at the same time as flying though, personally I couldn't think of a worse thing for DCS 😄

Yeah, this might not be feasible. I have just switched from a setup with TrackIR and two monitors to using an HP Reverb G2. And I miss being able to see Discord or the Blueflag map on my second monitor 😄

Yeah, there are some downsides to VR (blind and sweaty) but that's the fun of it right? 😄
