Someone converted it to the Mi24, can anyone do the same with the Apache? Would be nice to have a campaign to train on and was almost perfect for the Hind.

I think you could simply download the Mi-24 converstion, open each mission in the ME and change the aircraft from Mi-24 to AH-64 (just in case you don't want to wait for somebody to convert it)? Well, maybe the weapons loadout should be adjusted. Aside that, it should be pretty easy - just in case you can't wait until somebody converts it. The idea is for sure good.

Hi there. I had converted the UN campaign to the Hind and the UH-60. Naturally, making the campaign for the AH-64D is also something I would also like to do. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the Hind version!

If anyone sees a "UN Apache Livery" floating around, please let me know. 😉

Just went to the forum to suggest just that 🙂 Had some great fun today flying the modified Misison 7. (on a side-note I learned that the Apache is not bigger than the Huey, for some reason I imagined that the Apache would dwarf the Hueys, but it fits in just nicely into the squadron and onto the heli pads).

In case you own the Huey module you can just jump into the Mission editor and swap the player model from UH-1 to AH-64, you might have to change the task from "transport" to "escort" (I think it just has to be a compatible task). The triggers work just the same, so you will deploy soldiers during the mission nevertheless.

Ofc. if someone would go ahead and add fitting liveries and optimize the missions, that would be even better 👏 But in the meantime I'm very happy that DCS gives us the flexibility to enjoy the AH-64 in existing campaings practically out of the box.

Yeah there are some missions that should be adjusted. The mission where you fly the reporter around should be adjusted to fit a decent speed for the heli, not 60-80kts as its designed. Its been so long since I last played that campaign I dont remember all the bugs that were in that one, but that one just mentioned really bugs me. Also, the mission where you have to rescue the injured troop should be deleted too...or just as an escort mission.

i see what you mean, it can kill the immersion to fly troup transport missions in an AH-64, but in that regard you'd have to cut a lot of missions at least 30% if I had to guess. I personally wouldn't mind if the one where you have to fly the general around would be removed, it took me like 30 times before I got the landing on the third checkpoint right since there is a slope and I always crashed while landing downhill 🤣 Had to learn it the hard way that it's better to either land on a flat spot or at least uphill if you really have to.

I won’t be removing any missions. If you want to skip them you can with EDs campaign skip/retry feature.

makes sense, also from a story perspective.

Mission 11 is another perfect fit for the AH-64D (2x UH-1, 2x AH-64, 4x UH-60), even the voice samples fit perfectly since there is no mention of Miniguns etc. and the mission is all about CAS.

Some missions might require you to set your radio to a certain (UHF) frequency. I learned today how to edit the triggers so you'll hear the correct radio transmissions. (I don't know how critical those are for the mission to progress). Just find the triggers with the condition (COCKPIT PARAMETER EQUAL TO) and replace the PARAM value UHF_FREQ with COMM1_FREQ

Props to this guy for figuring out the correct param: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/190597-trigger-when-player-tuned-to-a-specific-frequency/?do=findComment&comment=3716494

Don't know how to work the radio on the Apache?

As the missions are designed, they are critical. You can either remove the requirement (like I did with the Hind version of the campaign), or you can find the modules equivalent cockpit parameter (like I did for the UH-60 version).

I haven’t had the opportunity to really look into the apache parameters for that yet. I am currently about half way done with the campaign conversion (when you count the missions) otherwise.

Something to note is that you (I?) will have to do something similar for the ADF freq.

For the UH-60 I got both via the same method of using the dcs-bios lua export interface to return a list of cockpit parameters. I’ll post here to share my knowledge if someone else does not do so first.

Thanks a lot for the very helpful insights! Would be very much interested in those parameters and I think those exports are very interesting in general.
I look forward to your properly converted campaign!

Edit: Ah just remembered there was something I forgot to ask you: So the triggers are firing as soon as I enter the UHF Frequency, but I dont have to select the frequency with my RTS Rocker Switch. I think it would be more realstic if I also had to do that, because just setting the frequency without selecting it wouldn't let me talk over it (that's how far my very little understanding for the Apache Radio systems go).

so any news? I might just do it myself this weekend when I get a chance. Take out a couple missions too and fix some stuff if not.

Question - I got -for the most part - the missions ready for the campaign file. Turning them into a .cmp file is aggravating me to death and putting them in no order...even though Im trying to put them in order. So how do I do that? I got stage 1, add a mission (in this case Stage 1 is Mission one, then Stage 2 is Mission 2 and so forth) and when I play the campaign the second mission is first. What am I doing wrong here? And even then, the other missions arent showing up after completing the first.

edit nvm...think I got it.
