VR FPS

The Apache absolutely tanks my frame rate. I figured there would be a hit, but this is ridiculous. I average in the 50s and 60s and in the apache its mostly in the 10s and low 20s. WTH?

It's not the patch either because I loaded up a mission in the Viper and I was back to 50s and 60s.

Any suggestions? It will be unplayable if the FPS stay this low.

My system is an i9-12900K, RTX3080Ti and 64GB Ram installed on an SSD. What gives?

Ya I dont have as good of a rig as some of you but mine really took a hit. I am lucky to get 30fps with a lot of settings turned off or down with my G2 at 80% SS in steamvr The NVG in the IHADDS really hits it hard.

And yet mine is buttery smooth, better than some other aircraft, even in Syria. Go figure.

Perhaps check preload radius. It was set to max on mine, I don't remember doing that myself. No other modules seemed to care, but apache frames went to hell.

With a low preload radius value, my normal fps is back and it runs very well.

The Apache is just unplayable in VR.

I think the main issue is the Helmet and the IHADSS not fit for VR.

Yes. IHADSS is the biggest source of VR performance issues with Apache. I don't think much can be done about it though, apart from decreasing graphics quality.

Same here : I did just 1 test, instant action: on ground with all on + Ihadss, nonFlir, fps just a bit above 30, fpsVR showing CPU at orange...

I noticed also a slight degradation for A10CII instant action/takeoff (my default benchmark), but it remains > 40 fps...

So the AH64 is really fps hungry and not VR friendly...

Absolutely no issue in VR. Everything in High, msaa x2 ->oculus CV1 with SS 1.5

The IHADSS is great in VR.

CV1 even with 1.5 does not come close to native resolution quest2 or G2. I would not have this problem too in your setup.

My Rift S system (i7 6700k, GPU 1070, 32G RAM) doesn't seem too much affected either, this FPS hit hasn't hit me so hard as you all.

Just to be clear. I'm perfectly fine if the flir is not enabled anywhere. It is just the flir which tanks the FPS in my case. 3950x 2070S 32GB Quest 2 native resolution (slider all the way to max) standalone no steamVR.

I'll check FLIR impact, that's maybe something I missed

For me, without FLIR or TADS the module behaves the same gpu-load like with the KA-50.

I am using a Rift S @ 40fps with 1.5 Supersampling and MSAA2x.

Enabling the FLIR / TADS can eat up to 25 % of my GPU-load on my 3080 Ti. So you basically need alot of headroom in gpu-usage to fly with FLIR / TADS. Otherwise, the fps-drop kicks in. Maybe this can get optimized in the near future, but I think the new FLIR-system eats alot more rendering power.

It remains a total mystery...I've deleted the fxo and metashader folders. I removed all aircraft mods. I reinstalled openvr_fsr and even removed it altogether. I tried loading on different maps under different conditions. The frames still take a giant crap. What else can possibly be the cause of this?

I think the performance issues are entirely CPU related. Now, keep in mind, I have no idea what I'm talking about and am not a software engineer. Having said this, I can load up the same DCS Liberation mission (very taxing on hardware due to the number of units) on a dedicated server on the same PC and go from 20 - 30 FPS to 72 FPS due to it using the hardware more efficiently. Not sure why this "hack" that takes 2 minutes is something that is taking so long to implement as a core feature of the game, but here we are.

The Ah64 works like any other module on my end in VR, 45fps sometimes more sometimes it drops to the 35's. I don't think this helps the people with performance problems, just wanted to mention that i can't see any performance difference to other modules in VR.

Quest 2 native resolution is 1832×1920 (per eye). If you are running what equates to 3950x2070 per eye than that is prob the issue lol.

I dont have a Quest so not sure thats possible but putting it out there just in case.

Those settings should be grinding your VR into the dust.

Nope, but i have no problems if the fps drop to the 30's in VR, i was running an Rift S with an 1080ti for a long time. But i had to increase my page file(2xRAM size on M.2) a couple months ago to be able to keep playing MPwithout DCS crashing.

The only thing that is killing my performance(2D/VR) is this bug:
