Hot start switches not set

When starting hot, some switches are not set correctly.

1. CPG -> INT LGT -> Primary is off, should be all the way up
2. TSD -> UTIL -> Doppler Radar is off, should be on
3. CPG -> WPN -> UTIL -> Laser is off, should be on
4. A/C -> FUEL -> C AUX is off, should be on

I suspect, but have not tested, that exterior fuel tanks are also not set to be used when loaded via ME and starting hot.

Of course the light knob should be on, how else are you gonna boresight?

Why should the center tank be off? The startup checklist sets it on, so naturally a hot start should have that enabled.

also 4. not 3.

Dude, your attitude is not so great. ‘Bradmick ’ is one of the key SMEs working on the project and is likely one of the many prime drivers in making this module the best EA release since 2010. So maybe dial it back a bit.

Bug reports need a track, it’s just the SOP required now.

Just to weigh in here.  There are some subjective assessments we could make about this regarding cold start vs hot start.

1) Regarding the Primary lighting knob, this should be off by default during any cold start as bradmick stated, but an argument could be made for having it set to an increased level during a hot start during a night time mission. The DCS F-16 has similar time-based lighting settings. However, even during daylight missions, the knob is only rotated on temporarily for boresighting, and then rotated off when complete.  It's not left on continuously during day flights nor when the aircraft is shut down.

2) As stated above, the Doppler should always be on since the Doppler automatically powers on when the APU is powered up.

3) The laser always requires manual power on by the CPG during any cold start. So this behavior is accurate as well. However, this is where subjective assumptions come in. If a hot start AH-64D has the rotors spinning, it could be assumed the CPG has already initialized and set all the required systems. In this case, like the Primary lighting knob during night missions, an argument could be made the laser power should already be switched on when hopping into a mission where the Apache is ready for takeoff.

4) There is no question about this one, bradmick is absolutely right that this should be off. C AUX is typically only switched on later in flight.  There are multiple schools of thought about this among AH-64 aircrews. Some will start the C AUX after the second 30 minute fuel check is complete, some will start it after the total fuel onboard the aircraft drops below 2500 lbs (the maximum fuel capacity of just the main fuel tanks), and some will turn it on shortly after takeoff to make sure the fuel transfer out of the center aux tank is functioning properly. The reason for the latter is so they know sooner rather than later if they have any fuel endurance impacts to their mission due to malfunctioning auxiliary tanks; although some take the middle ground and test to ensure it works, then turn it back off after verifying it pumps 10 to 20 pounds out of the aux tank, and then switch it on later after burning off more fuel from the mains.

There is nothing in the start-up checklist that states to turn the C AUX on. If there is, it's probably from a player-generated checklist, not anything that reflects accurate real-life practices or procedures. SME's are not gods, we are not perfect, and if we make mistakes, we are mature enough to own up to them.  However, let's keep conversations based on facts and hard data, not emotions.

Finally, I don't speak for the devs, but keep in mind that this module is heavily WIP (as is likely the case in the Doppler being switched off)

Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man.
