Not sure, but it looks like what are green numbers under light are luminescent and they glow even when not lit or after being lit. Interesting effect if that's realistic.

There had already been in the versions itself white backlighting.
This is not good.
If there's anything it's luminescent paint and it's not white.
Just look at the other warbirds...

I can't find the files to modify to have the right color

To get the effect you saw above, I put the instruments in green.
It's very ugly during the day but since at night it's backlit in white with the lighting of the lamps and it gives this effect.

For the luminescent paint I think more of the yellow brown indication

@Tintin - keep in mind these are modded cockpit textures on your first screen (one of these "high contrast" repaints for Spit available out there). Default ones don't have this effect.

For cockpit mods I recommend Jex's one. It reduces the milky tint on the instruments and adds a little of contrast here and there, but doesn't change the overall look too dramatically:
