greenhut Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Does anyone know if there is specific Crossfire support for Black Shark? Newegg/Paypal is doing a great promo making a 4850X2 only about $230 after rebates. My understanding is that without specific support, the card will only perform as a single 4850. The 4850X2 is beating the GTX280 at hight res on virtually every big name title. My concern is that BS is a bit.. obscure and has limitted distribution at the moment. If it does not have Crossfire yet, what will it take form AMD to add it? I imagine Lock-On has Crossfire support? thanks! -- ASRock Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel 8600K @ 5.0| 16 GB DDR4 3000 | nVidia GTX 1080Ti | Samsung 850 Pro 512GB M.2 | TrackIR 5 | Rift CV1 | TM HOTAS Warthog | Win 10 x64 |
greenhut Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 BTW, I am taling about AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) support. Apparantly Crossfire defaults back to basic support for all titles (unlike SLI). -- ASRock Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel 8600K @ 5.0| 16 GB DDR4 3000 | nVidia GTX 1080Ti | Samsung 850 Pro 512GB M.2 | TrackIR 5 | Rift CV1 | TM HOTAS Warthog | Win 10 x64 |
Purg Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I don't think you'll get much benefit from the card for BS, it's more CPU bound than graphics bound.

I appreciate the comment, and this is a typical comment regarding BS, however there are several documented cases on the forums where a video card upgrade significantly moves performance. Now it may be that once you get to a 4850 class card it ceases to matter, but I don't think so. -- ASRock Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel 8600K @ 5.0| 16 GB DDR4 3000 | nVidia GTX 1080Ti | Samsung 850 Pro 512GB M.2 | TrackIR 5 | Rift CV1 | TM HOTAS Warthog | Win 10 x64 |
Feuerfalke Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I don't recommend it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34500&page=4 BS doesn't support multiple CPU or GPU, so the benefit is pretty low and it may cause more trouble than fun. I'd rather invest the money into a faster board, fast memory or CPU. Gigabyte GA-Z87-UD3H | i7 4470k @ 4.5 GHz | 16 GB DDR3 @ 2.133 Ghz | GTX 1080 | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | Creative X-Fi Ti | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win10 64 HP | X-Keys Pro 20 & Pro 54 | 2x TM MFD
