Worked but recently broke - Flashing Config / Not recognizing mission or plane

did try searching and tried most of the mitigations found

I am having an issue which has only just surfaced so I can confirm it was working fine

The only thing I can think which might have caused it – I launched DCS as an administrator by accident

What is the issue ?

VAICOM is initializing in VA but is not registering the mission in DCS so BCN is flashing in the config window, it doesn’t register the aircraft either and doesn’t register the mission in VC when loaded so therefore can’t find any assets like airfields when you use push to talk

However if there is a radio announcement in the mission ( ie AWACS) it does show up in VC/Vaicom

Where I have voice commands that execute key press like  “Left Ctrl 1” – that works

I can confirm the following

  • I always run VA as admin
  • Have tried removing the .lau files
  • Have checked the custom DCS path in the config tab ( plus used fix reg )
  • I have done a repair in DCS

Did you do all those steps while VA was shutdown?
VAICOM do not use keypresses BTW, so those should work anyway.

Pretty sure I've set DCS to run as administrator.
Did you update DCS while VA was running?

I've had an issue later, where the communication between VAICOM and DCS seems disconnected at mission start. I click my TX5 (doesn't matter if the module doesn't have intercom), and suddenly connects. In the Huey, it's off for 15 seconds or so, one can hear the radio trigger clicking away, and suddenly it stops, and all is well.

Cheers!

i launched DCS in admin before then launching VA in admin - just a mistake and not sure this even was the cause

the DCS repair was done whilst VA was not running as the remove of some of the .lau files - i have noticed something in debug mode in VA -it says the Export.lau is unchanged. If i search for the export.lau it is sitting in my saved games \ dcs scripts area though

It will always tell you that the export.lua isn't changed if it doesn't do anything with it.

It always important to start VA before DCS. Especially after an update.
I would try that now, and if it doesn't solve it, do the steps again in the correct order and post your VA log here.

Best of luck!
Cheers!

Is there any chance that you are still starting DCS under an administrator account? If you did that it possibly would be loading code from the administrator account Saved Games folder rather than your own. And since VAICOM is patching the code in your own Saved Games folder this could explain a communications issue.

Could someone please confirm where all the necessary vaicom files (.lua) need to be within the profile or in the DCS directory so i can check them

would be good it you could also confirm permissions on the .lua files too

Upgraded to latest version of VA

I have gone file by file following the manual

I also ensured each file had all permissions for everyone - STILL THE SAME ISSUE

Export.lua This is an append file. Open this file in Notepad++ and select all contents for copy with Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C. Next find the existing export.lua file in the Saved Games/DCS/Scripts folder (create a new empty export.lua file if it doesn’t exist yet). Then Paste (Ctrl-V) the contents into the export.lua below whatever else may already be in there.

2. VAICOMPRO.export.lua Create a subfolder named ‘VAICOMPRO’ (use capitals) in Saved Games/DCS/Scripts. Place the exported file VAICOMPRO.export.lua in there.

3. RadioCommandDialogsPanel.lua This is an append file. Open the file in Notepad++ and select all contents for copy with Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C. Next find this folder: ‘DCSWorld\Scripts\UI\RadioCommandDialogPanel’ and open the existing RadioCommandDialogsPanel.lua file there with Notepad++. At very lower end of this file paste the copied contents with Ctrl-V and save.

4. TabSheetBar.lua Append file, found in the same folder as 3). Follow the same append steps.

5. gameMessages.lua is placed in the Scripts/UI folder.

6. speech.lua Also an append file. Add the contents of this file at the end of the speech.lua file located in folder ‘DCS World\Scripts\Speech’.

7. Do the same with common.lua, in the same folder as speech.lua.
