Is it generating a log file? If so please attach it so the moderators can review it

I personally had ton of problems with the Syria map. I ended removing all the mod, and the Syria map , updates DCS and then installed the map.

I ran Skatezilla's clean and a slow repair. No help. My log files are in the other thread. I have 32GB DDR4 and an 8GB RTX 3070. I thought maybe a memory issue and cranked down the preload. No help.

This is from the crash log:

I think it is a memory issue. I created a mission with default clouds and time of day and it runs. The ones that were crashing I had chosen more clouds.

ok found the cause try to put the textures in the settings on LOW , let me know

@Jagdgeschwader  So the problem is the textures, if I put LOW everything works, if I put Medium the loading freezes, if I put HIGH the game crashes

Can you attach a log file?

Iv'e never encountered such problem on my end, so if nothing helps you solving this, try to reinstall DCS.

Hopefully, one of the moderators will see this post so they can help you better.

Hi KretoFrilk,

I have a question. Others are having your same problem. Everyone has by now realized that switching to "low" textures does fix it. Anyway everyone is still wondering what's the root cause of this. Did you manage to understand what exactly is causing this issue? Why having textures set to "high" causes the crashes?

Thanks for any insight you might have.

I solved it by setting the C drive paging file to 16,384

ONLY FOR SYSTEM UNIT UNIT C SET LIKE THIS:

Custom size:

Initial size (MB): 16.384

Maximum file size (MB): 16,384

Press SET and RESTART your PC

I don't want to increase my page file size. I'll just run with fewer clouds in Syria until I upgrade my memory.

I've read (can't confirm) that if your page file size is too large Windows will use that even when there is free RAM available. I don't want that even though I have a gen 4 NVMe SSD.

Should pagefile size be set on the OS drive or the drive that DCS is on? I've had the same # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION crashes since the Open Beta update, but they have happened on different maps and modules (including the Apache). I've done a slow repair but haven't flown enough to test reliability. I'll post my Apache crash log (not Syria; Caucasus) just in case.

Opinions vary but I think most believe it best for the pagefile to be on the OS partition. With 32GB on different systems I've run without a pagefile for years until recently. Now I'm considering adding another 32GB and killing the pagefile again.

I have the exact same issue, just with the Apache and just on the Syria map. Seems to be memory related. I have 32GB RAM in my system. Just posting to advise the others are not alone in this issue.

if you try to do instant game on Persian Gulf I think you will have the same problem, to me at first he did it only on syria now also on Persian Gulf.

Exactly as I have always done, never used the paging file, so every day I get another 32GB of ram so I will have 64GB and I hope to sleep peacefully for everything and for quite a while.

My page file was set to automatic running on a spare SSD. I have changed it to 32GB fixed size and it's working fine again. I can fly on Syria with the Apache. Easy fix, thanks all.

^THIS^

Whatever your physical memory is, double it with your page file.

I have 32Gb DDR 3 with 32 on the OS drive and 32 on my game drive. Very rare to crash, even on Syria.

I've got 32GB RAM plus 32GB set aside on the OS pagefile but that didn't seem to stop the crash. My OS drive is getting very low on space thanks to Windows update bloat.

If your low on space, you need a bigger drive.

If you don't want to use pagefile, then you are doomed. Enjoy the crashes.
