Ramstein
I have another new router (off brand Router named TRENDnet) and tried that last week, people could not join my hosted missions on that one either.. (so I put my D-Link 624 Router back in,, same thing happens...) note: if they put my IP address in then they can join my game... .. no one can join through the Black Shark Server page, as I said, just like you, it makes up a port number, each time a different number on it's own... (I use 10308 8) ) damm thing.. :helpsmilie: Edited January 14, 2009 by Ramstein ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
pernils
I don't know is this some kind of help .... But just wonder what happens if you don't have typed in the port number and your local ip address on the server setup page. Another question mark is what happens if you have a empty (space) in front of the port number. Maybe then BS is then randomize the port numbers. mckee14
i can confirm that i have the correct port set in the config, but still the port shown by the server browser is wrong. btw guys - even if blackshark SHOWS a different port in the lobby/serverbrowser, just overwrite it with the port that is forwarded and the server runs on (default 10308). it does NOT change the port BS is running on, it just SHOWS a wrong number... pernils
Yes that works .. But if you are hosting a "public" server you must call your server something like ... use_myip+_:10306 so the others could get a hint how to connect to you. Not all is aware of this "bug" or what it could be ...

Ramstein
Today I hosted a server for a mission. That was the first time. The pilots that joined we able to through the BS Internet interface. But, I am not celebrating yet. Going to see if it will continue to work properly as I host more missions soon. :music_whistling: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
graywo1fg
so ramstein did they have to change it to 10308 still? or was it like that to begin with the way it should be? mckee14
you see, there are several servers with a wrong port in the list :) gray - did you also forward the port in the windows firewall? antivirus? routet to the correct IP? when the port is manually corrected by the clients, they must be able to connect. if not, something is really wrong :) btw - even with a wrong port number, clients usually can connect, but they don't show a ping in the chatlobby, the can not unpause the game, and after a short time they get disconnected... Ramstein
so ramstein did they have to change it to 10308 still? or was it like that to begin with the way it should be? well, some clients still had problems and couple people did join, but it kept booting people off. And some just used the ip address and bypasses the BS multiplayer browser. In other words, it still had serious problems. there was no one changing the IP address... I don't remember what IP it was showing. I didn't see it and forgot if anyone said it was different. In any case, it's still really buggy. I can't vouch for their Router and port settings. But they are aware of what ports they need to open if they have a firewall and/or router. :joystick: Bottom line, It's still buggy.. graywo1fg
I have windows firewall turned off on the server. Do i need to have it on? no anti virus either because... meh its just a server hehe.. If anything goes wrong i'll just reformat it. Ramstein just like you i have had some people who can, and some who can't connect with changing the port. Ramstein
I hosted another game today,, seemed to have been better... but I only host for less than an hour. No one got disconnected... ;) edited: today when people tried to joined, they told me it had thr wrong port and gave them an error message.. so they joined by ip address and it seemed to have worked using that method today. Ramstein
hmmmmmm http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36520&page=3 it's still buggy... as I have friends with BS who try to host and have problems with hosting.. I just have not been hosting much lately, or else I would try to get a solid answer to if I am stil having problems... need to have clients who are known to not have any problems in their network and router settings... :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
mckee14
i have no problems to connect to servers, and "no problems" to host a server (exept the clients need to enter the port 10308 manually). so, i could help you out with testing, but i'm located in switzerland (GMT +1)...depends on the hours you could be online... SixMarbles
LOL Gray, you suck at lightsabers Cool beans, I'm curious as to whether the problem arises because the hosts' ports are not open when the master server looks for an update... or maybe it works the other way around with a heartbeat, I dunno. In any case, the people who don't have problems hosting all seem to use DMZ so maybe it's a port problem.
SixMarbles
Okay, done a little project and I have determined a few things about the server browsing behavior. The master server does not disseminate server info to browsing clients beyond the ip address and port of the server. All specific server info is parsed directly from game servers when a client sends a UDP "getinfo" packet to each server on the master list by pressing the REFRESH button. The servers respond individually by sending back a UDP "serverinfo" packet directly to the browsing client on the same port. If the port the client sends "getinfo" on is not the same port the game is being run on, the server will respond with an ICMP (ping) "host unreachable" packet, even though it has not received a ping, exactly. In this case, the client will not see server info beyond the ip and (incorrect) port. However, if the host's router/gateway is set up to translate incoming traffic from the wrong port to the correct port, it will respond with the correct UDP "serverinfo" packet instead of ICMP. When a server is started, and also every 300 seconds thereafter, a game server will send a UDP "heartbeat" packet to the ED master server. The master server responds with a UDP "getinfo" packet on the same port, and then the game server sends back a UDP "serverinfo" packet. This is strange, since the ED master server does not need this information; it only shows the IPs and ports to browsing clients. The problem arises when the master server tells browsing clients the correct IP but incorrect port for a server. This incorrect port seems to always be between 60000 and 64000 and appears to be selected randomly. I have not managed to find any packets my server has sent to the master server on one of these ports, nor in the packets sent to me by the master server. The data sent between my server and the master server are always on either 10307 or the session port (default 10308 ) even after the master server has been telling browsing clients the incorrect 60k-64k port. In short, this all means that the 60k-64k port is generated completely on the master server. Ball's in your court guys :smilewink: Hope this helps a bit Edited January 23, 2009 by SixMarbles
graywo1fg
so that would explain why puting that random port as public and in the same port listing as private 10308........... but another thing ED will have to figure out is..... why is it doing it to some and not others? I know for some of the servers are not behind a router.......mine is.....
