Hosting with black shark i think i found a bug

Saturday afternoon I tried to host a game. I gave the correct ip and port of 10308. When I hit fly I ended up in a heli and everything was paused with the pause button flashing at the upper right corner. No one could join because of an invalid address or server closed. Someone else tried to host and I had the same prob.

However, I have no problem joining as client to others hosting. Was wondering how I could get lan or dedicated server. Hope these questions make sense.

is there a way to somehow force something to use a certain port? anyone know?

The ability to do such would need to be hard coded into the game I imagine.

We really should have a dedicated server by now. The fact that we don't is pretty pathetic in my opinion. Hosting is sloppy and tacked-on at the moment.

you have the port forwarded in the router? as a client, you don't have to do this, but as the host you will. otherwise, the people can see the server, but when they try to connect they can not connect at all, or (more likely) they can join, but you will not get a ping from them. after some seconds, they "disconnect" on your side, on their side they see "server has been shut down".

and it is normal, that there is a PAUSE symbol when you start the server. you have to press the PAUSE-button to start the mission. be aware, that if the portforwarding is not working, the clients will still see the pause symbol, even if you already started the mission (and some moments later, they disconect)

make sure:

1. you have the port 10308 forwarded to the actual (internal) IP of your computer. (setting this IP as a fix one would be helpful) check www.portforward.com for more infos

2. check your external IP and give it to a client (which is able to connect to other servers)

3. set up your server, start the misson. when starting, check the interface, and set a passwort. also, check the port is the standard one, which you have forwarded (10308)

4. start the server and start the mission - be in the pit, un-pause the mission.

5. press ECS, then POOL

6. tell the client to connect. when connecting, he can enter the IP manually or search by the list. as soon as he connects, a window will ask for the password. there will also be shown the IP and the port - make sure the client CHECKS the port! if it's not 10308, he has to change it manually (like xx.yy.xx.yy:10308)

7. the client should then enter the password and connect

8. while he is connecting, you will see his name in the POOL, and on the bottom, next to the name, you will see his PING. check, if he has a ping as soons as connected.

9. when he gets a ping, he should be able to fly on your server. if not, the problem is most likely your portforwarding.

-> if he doesn't get a ping, has the pause button and disconnects, try it without router. if it works without router, it's almost for sure the forwarding...

they are Airway in the port above "Black Shark 2" ........ i had to do this second port just to get it to work...... because my server is broadcasting a random port while my LAN is showing 10308..... so the public port i had to enter in the randomized port every time it changed so that when people connect to my server they come in through that port and then once through the router it changes to 10308 which it is suposed to be on and somehow halfway is......... but if people connect by IP and make it 10308 it works sometimes............ its just being shown Wrong in the list :S

but Groove i also tried putting it in that applications tab... restarted the server and checked with my gamer rig... still the list is showing it wrong...... but if i go to the LAN list instead of Internet its showing 10308.... thats why Airway i did the Public/Private thing..........

i have to use it or else people will not be able to connect to my server...... because look at the public port.... that is the "random generated" port and i have to change it every time the list shows it wrong and so people can connect..... don't worry, i have tried without it and it doesnt work, i put that there to make it work but it should not be needed........ that "Black Shark 2" port is put into place as a fix that my server is showing wrong in the list........... so if people connect it goes through that "Black Shark 2" and gets redirected to 10308 server side.

Hmm.

I don't know if it helps you at all but I had to do the following in my router:

I had to edit a service in my router firewall settings.

zwischenablage04q5zf.jpg

zwischenablage031d93.jpg

And then I had to set up a firewalll inbound rule for this service:

zwischenablage02w7zl.jpg

zwischenablage01keou.jpg

When I enable this rule the port is closed by default and opened automatically when I am hosting a Black Shark session.

When I disable this rule the port is closed and stealthed again.

I hope you can use something out of this, however.

Every router is different, poorly.

roger Groove.... i'll try that..... and the screenshots are from me but a lot of the time i'll ask my squad mates what the port shows to open it so i'm not the only one seeing the same thing.... :)

i'll try dissabling all of em...

also Airway thanks for the info bud.... If i add a port in my virtual server screen it automatically goes also in my firewall tab so i am pretty sure i have it right? :P i'll keep looking around.....

but i'm not the only one having this issue i also see other servers that have the random port :\

groove i added you on MSN

added you to ICQ Groove :P

ok i disabled all ports here is what it shows but it doesnt really matter because the port will just change randomly in 10 min or so EVEN if the server is running :(

BUT LOOK!!! the server below me!??! a friend Perhaps with the same problem?.......

but heres the thing...... i dont think its an issue with my problem...... BECAUSE...... if they click on my server and then get prompted to type an Password....... in there it also lists the IP... if they change the Port at the end to 10308 it works!!!!! its just being listed wrong in the list!!!! and even if the list, Listed it right as 10308 like it should because its specified in the server they would be able to connect!!! or if i did not have the port open like i do now for testing it should STILL SHOW 10308

Hit the unpause button....duh! I should have seen that one coming.

I had to ad 10308 to port forwarding in windows firewall. No prob hosting now. Thank you kindly for your help.

file was already set at 10308...... :\

so i then changed it to 0 for the heck of it and it did not show up at all then i changed it back to 10308 and got the port shown as random again.

then i tried hosting with my gamer rig and now its not working on my gamer rig... *sigh* maybe my router is defective?? starting to think i need to try a new router because i am absolutely 110% positive i have opened the ports. i even tried putting myself in the DMZ on the router

Hi,

I have the same exact problem as graywo1fg,

When I try to host Black Shark, mine too makes up random port numbers! I have never seen this happen in all my years of computers! This has to be some wacky BUG! None of my other games do these wacky port number changes. I also can host/join LockOn/Falcon4/WOV/IL-2 and the list goes on. Only in Black Shark does it do these wacky port number changes. it makes up numbers.. I set mine in my D-Link 624 as port 10308 like it is suppose to be set. Then when other try to join my server, they tell me I have a port number I never heard of..

:cry::cry:

Thanx for listening..
