Brilliant c0ff, adding the port to the heartbeat packet will solve the issue! Thank you for your efforts!

BTW, I just tried hosting a server twice while exposed directly to the WAN without any firewalls enabled and my port was showing as 61534 the first time and 61541 the second time. The problem does not appear to be caused by my router :( but it doesn't matter since the patch will fix all this!

i didn't get the techical stuff, but just as additional information - i have and always had the russion download-version installed. and i have the problem of the changing port as well, so i'm not sure if its related to the version (using a router with portforwarding)

and please, don't give me more technical informations about this, 'cause i'm like a single-handed half-brainer in technics :)

thanx for your effort guys, very much appreciated! (even if i don't know WHAT you really did heh)

Same here, I initially was able to host without any issues. Now, unable too, even taken out my router from the picture and the issue had remained. Seems sporadic as well as far as I can tell.

Maybe the hosting issue is in a reg key somewhere or perhaps in a config file. If we can isolate the file, making it read-only after a fresh install would likely help since it seems to host just fine after reinstalling. If it's a reg key, placing a .reg on the desktop or in a batch file should do the trick.

Any new developments with this problem?

So far we have determined that servers running from a fresh install do not experience this problem during the first session they host. The problem arises when the server is shut down. Subsequent sessions will produce the problem.

We have also determined that only select users have this problem while hosting. The problem has been observed on varying rigs with varying internet connections. The problem is not isolated to people using routers (I have personally verified this), and no port forwarding profiles tried have yet helped.

We have observed also that replacing the apparent port (60000-64000) with the correct port (10308 ) will allow clients to connect to a session, but not receive UDP packets from the server, only TCP. This will produce the circumstance where the client erroneously sees a paused server and later times out and disconnects.

  • 4 months later...

I know this is an old'ish kinda thread, and I know alot of people are affected by this problem and I know it must annoy the crap outta them.

But, if it was a game bug, which I dont know if it is or isnt, but I have seen routers remap ports on their own accord before when they shouldnt, especially with FTP ports.

But this "bug" supposedly happens all the time except after a fresh install, and then after you host and then close the server , the server wont work correctly therafter.

If that is the case, then whats the situation with all the servers that are hosted and seem to be hosted without any problems ? I am sure people dont reinstall the game after every hosting session and I am sure they dont keep it up 24/7 365, ok they are up alot, but they must come down at somepoint.

I dont know what to think, people are saying, its only the english version thats affect, then its now the russian version also, then its with certain routers, then its with no routers at all in the loop.

I really dont know what to think, the hosting works for me and I have "fingers crossed" I have yet to experience a single problem whilst hsoting which hasnt been attributed to me and fixed in a minute or so.

I can only hope that those that are affected by this problem, that whatever fix the patch brings, the heartbeat fix, i can only hope that fixes the problem.

Maybe, it would be a good idea to start listing hardware, software and internet connection properties for all those that are suffering this problem incase their is a common link to it all ?

In anycase, I hope that you are all able to host soon.

Hosting companies will be using routers, albeit not the type we use but they will be using them, also earlier on in the thread someone said that even without a router being in the loop the sim still had the same problem, then it was "only the English version is affected", but then someone with the russian version said he was affected also.

So if that was the case then No server would be able to host properly, regardless of sim version, router or non router.

So I am even more confused, does this problem only happen With routers ? or without also, does it happen Only on the English version or the Russian version also ?

I am not saying their isnt a problem, but going by this thread, no one can make up their mind asto what is causing it.

But I am pretty sure that those who have servers up and running, the majority of them will be behind routers, whether thats a home router or one from a hosting company.

the mumbo jumbo about certian versions being effected is proven wrong. so basically what we have concluded is its something with the port not being in the heart beat packet that is sent to the master server. and also the server application will actually change the port to a random one when no one is on the server.
