Idea for a possibly free map Mid Atlantic gap

Depending on how well the ocean floor is modeled, this could be rather easy map to do. Though we would need a lot more ships and naval aircraft. The Axis would need improved Submarines, as well as surface ships to act as commerce raiders. The allies we would need more cargo ships, some destroyers destroyer escorts, escort carriers along with the F4F, Sea Hurricain or Sea fire and TBFs to operate from them. As well as some destroyers, cruisers and battleships.

you should put this in pacific wishlist

Why should I post about the mid-Atlantic gap on the Pacific wishlist? I figure this would be a good map to do a sink the Bismark mission

Maybe you can join it to the I can't remember how many times and places a wide open sea map has been wishlisted. The closer we got is Marianas, actually 😁.

There must be something going below the surface (no pun intended) that makes it harder than you'd think it would be to develop just a flat square of only open water. Otherwise, I can't figure out why ED wouldn't just quickly create and release such a map that pretty much everyone wants. Honestly, I'd probably even be willing to pay a few bucks for it if they wanted to charge.

Bearing in mind we've known about the whole World map they are trying it'll be plenty of water, about 70% water precisely 🤣 . I think it doesn't make a lot of sense such an effort for "only" water, but remember it's not just water, ocean's floor is modelled for submarine warfare but for flying it's quite pointless using it without ships. And anyway, remember in the current system it wouldn't be infinite water, there would be surrounding no detailed hard edges. I used to think it would be nice to have such a map, but I'm not sure now if I really would want that kind of map.

Modeling the ocean floor in such a map would be a complete waste of time. It could be completely flat and just a little bit deeper than the max dive of any sub. Honestly I had no idea there even was submarine warfare in DCS, so I think that says something about how important it is currently, although I will concede that maybe it could be more fleshed out in the future.

The map would obviously be for carrier/naval ops and the great thing about it would be that you can do modern or WW2 missions without the need for having two different time periods modeled for the terrain.

And the full world map? Sounds great. I'm sure the people of the 23rd century will be pumped when it releases.

Saying there is submarine warfare is a bit of a stretch we have subs and DCS is mostly about warfare. Naval warfare is lacking in general.
